June 2018 Trip Report #3 - 06/20/2018 04:24 PM

Monday we had breakfast at 'home', as usual, ham and cheese omelette, with toast with yummy French jelly, mimosa and coffee. Doesn't get much better than that!

After, we packed a cooler and headed to Club Orient, stopping along the way at Super U for a couple of items. You can only get to Club O now via the road which also used to go to the butterfly farm, not from the road which goes behind the other former beach restaurants. We pulled up close to the new Perch Light (sorry, no pictures) and made the short walk to our chairs. Two chairs and an umbrella were $18, so we gave the guy $20. (Big spenders!! laugh) We were late arriving around 11:30, but got a chair on the front row without any problem. There were about 50 people on the beach. There was one big ship in, but they didn't arrive until 11:30 in port, so a few people straggled in from the ship, but not many. There were two places other than Club O serving food, Sun Beach and Chez Leandra, and a couple of other places renting chairs (only). We shared a burger and fries from the Perch Lite, which was actually quite good. The weather was beautiful, with a light breeze. The beach was lovely, with no seaweed, and a straight walkout into the water, with no issues. We spent several peaceful, lovely hours on the beach. It was all one could want from a day. The bathroom I guess is in a container way off to the left from the Perch Lite, but we didn't use it.

We went back home, and had planned on going out to dinner at Pineapple Pete. Fortunately, I looked at their menu online, to discover they are not open on Monday!! Huh. I think perhaps that is new since the hurricane?? In any event, we decided plan B was roasted Camembert! For a couple of years, we have done a roasted camembert glazed with honey, with roasted shrimp. Since we didn't have any baguette, I sent Eric for baguette and strawberries at Carrefour in Cupecoy. We enjoyed a lovely dinner with camembert, ham, shrimp, strawberries, pear, and grapes, and a lovely Piper Heidsek, which was supposed to be for our anniversary night, but I figured that wouldn't WORK with pizza!! grin

Thus endeth another successful day!

Tuesday

For the first time today, the weather looks iffy. We haven't had a drop of rain up to now, but with two ships in today, the weather doesn't look so good. We saw the Disney ship come in first

and then the Carnival ship

Photo editing software is GREAT, as the actual pictures were a lot darker than this. smile

I sent Eric out for quiche for breakfast, which he got from Zee Best, and NOT my favorite Le Suciere

We actually did not finish the bottle of Piper Heidsich last night, which was somewhat shocking. However, we did discover that several of the wines that we have purchased had this cute little 'button' top, instead of a cork, and that little button worked wonderfully to seal the champagne well enough to preserve the bubbles for the next morning! clever

The quiche was OK, but I thought had too much crust. Wow, to have such problems!! grin

We had not yet been to Mullet and we knew that Rosie does not cook if there are no ships in, so we picked Tuesday to go so that we could get her ribs and chicken. Just as we headed out the door to get into our car, it started raining, so we decided to take a trip to Cupecoy Carrefour for a couple of items, and to see what the weather would look like.

Going through Maho, we saw the see-through buildings

And Casino Royale

Someone had posted that CR would be opening in June. I assume maybe they meant June 2019, as it is a LONG way away.

Starz is also a LONG way away,

and that sign there is a LIE, when it says that there are table games at the Dunes, which is at Alegria. We went by there Tuesday night and there were NO table games at the Dunes.

The sight of Ocean Club was absolutely stunning.

The Blue Mall had some plywood up on the top floor

Coming back from Carrefour, we went down by the Towers so that we could take some pictures for Pat.

We asked the guy at the guard shack when the Towers would be reopening and he said that he had no idea.

From here, it was on to Mullet, but I will need to do another thread, to get in the pictures...

To be continued.

Thanks for another installment. Once I saw the "recycling" of pastries at Zee Best, I would not purchase anything there. La Sucriere for me.

He went to the one by the airport, which is only carry-out, so no 'recycled' pastries, which I don't think they would do with quiche anyway. But regardless, next time it's back to La Suciere! grin

Well, I just thought it was a waste of a really good bottle of champers, to drink it with pizza! grin

I have another installment to do, to finish up through yesterday, but probably too lazy to do it tonight..

Hi Norm. There are instructions about using the photo gallery in the FAQ section. Best to try it out at home to get used to how to do it.

Feel the same! Sadly the dump fire in Philipsburg drove us out. Sensitive nose for smells. Perfect spot for relaxing and reading!

Great trip report and pictures. Glad to hear that Chez Leandra is once again serving food. It was closed the entire time we were there from June 3rd to 17th. We did eat lunch once at Sun clubber and it was good, however when we heard the food was prepared at Coda we walked down the beach to have lunch. Same menu, less in price and the food is on real plates and cutlery. I much prefer my wine in a glass rather than plastic. Haha ! That being said I think what Sun Clubber is doing is genius. Great service for people who do not want to leave the beach.
Thanks for all of the excellent pictures and for taking time to post.

I get ya. I agree on the glass.. I think that Bikini is supposed to be open by now, but we haven't been over to Orient recently.
