Airfare from PIT

Airfare from PIT - 08/30/2018 04:28 PM

Hi. We're looking to return in late June/July, 2019. Airfare from PIT is now $504. That seems like a very good price since we have paid close to $800 in the past. Kayak projects price will come down to $436 in the next month or so. Wondering if we should buy now or take our chances and wait. I really HATE to fly American, but that really seems to be our only choice. Delta doesn't have a long enough connection that I'm comfortable with. I'm wondering if rates are low due to Irma and when they might increase. Any advice from you more experienced travelers would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would NOT hesitate at that fare if it is available for the dates you want.

I have found that my fare has dropped after purchasing and gotten a refund of the difference when I called. There are some websites that you can set an alert for price drop but it has to be the same fare to get the difference refunded.

autoeng,

Don’t know when you last tried to get a refund based on a fare reduction after the initial ticket purchase but American, along with some of the other airlines, now have a restriction whereby the fare must drop by significant amount before they offer refunds. Last time I paid attention it was the first hundred dollars of the decrease was theirs but something tells me it might be even more than that today.

If I was the OP, i’d still book the fare now if it’s one they are comfortable with because while there ‘could’ be a decrease over the next month, it could go up, too, and a bird in hand.........

And as an additional thought, we still fly AA as our carrier of choice without any of the inflight issues which we've had on JB a few times, but that said, we also prefer JB to return to JFK when on an international flight. Our biggest complaint with AA is they tend to cancel flights a lot or change them to ridiculous connections.
