After spending seven days in the sun either on the beach or by the pool we decided to take a break and enjoy a leisurely lunch in Marigot. Driving through Sandy Ground and Nettle Bay was not much different than riding through other places we’ve been on the island as far as what Irma destroyed and what it didn’t. Many buildings on either side of the road heading to Marigot were damaged with some rebuilding.

Croissant Royal is open 7 days a week from 7 am – 4 pm. Parking was easy as there were no other restaurants open in the marina for lunch on Sunday. We had a nice table overlooking the marina and ordered. My savory crepe was perfect. Chicken, mushrooms in a cream sauce. David wasn’t very hungry so opted for the shrimp and crab salad. The shrimp were grilled with imitation crab salad. Even though it wasn’t crabmeat he enjoyed his lunch.

Later in the evening we had our annual friend’s bbq by the pool. We now house 6 Villas although some of our crew will start leaving shortly. Only four more full days for us.

Monday a few in our group booked the Rhino Safari (http://www.rhinosxm.com/) excursion which they thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a 2.5 hour guided excursion in motored watercraft. They supply you with a mask and fins. The tour starts in the lagoon near Pineapple Pete’s where you make your way under the causeway boating along the airport and exit the lagoon by the old Mario’s. Then you hug the shoreline all the way to Creole Rock with a snorkeling adventure there.

Photo courtesy of Rhino Safari Excursion:For $15 they will take a professional print photo of you. If you go online to post a review on TripAdvisor you will receive the photo you purchased as well as many other beautiful digital photos of your excursion with a code they provide you after you've reviewed them.

Several of us attempted to go to Lotterie Farms but they were closed. There was no indication on their website nor the big sign as you’re entered that they didn’t open until Thursday. We parked and walked out to the pool area before one of the workers let us know that they were not open for business. The area was breath-taking. Our disappointed group decided to head to Sol e Luna for lunch which was another first for us.

What a beautiful restaurant and hotel. Lunch was superb and the service was impeccable. Five stars all the way. So sorry it took me so long to get there. They offered a 3 course prix fixe meal for 24 euros. The appetizer was advertised as a quinoa salad with shrimp in a curry sauce followed by trigger fish and a strawberry mousse/cake dessert. We all enjoyed our meals immensely and spoke about returning soon although unsure it will be this trip for me.

Louise--I've never been to Sol e Luna. The pictures of the pool are at Sol e Luna, not Loterie Farms, correct? We have never gone there, but that certainly looks lovely and even Pat appreciated the food porn! grin Thanks for posting!

Carol, the photos are at Lotterie Farm not Sol e Luna. My friend Evan took some amazing photos of Sol e luna outside. I will ask him to forward me photos to I can post with his permission.

I missed that totally. Saw the post about them wanting you to prepay for a reduced cost good in October.

Crepe looked good. It really disturbs me when a restaurant calls fake crab crabmeat without distinguishing it as fake crab. Bad business practice.

Thanks for all of your updates. We've always loved La Croissanterie, and are glad that they've kept the same staff and re-opened as Croissant Royal.

To Carol Hill

Sol e Luna is a beautiful house. We haven't been there since Bridget & Christoph sold it but Bridget (now owner of Altro in Porto Cupecoy) said it's still the same. candlelit dining inside or on porch or in the garden. Very romantic! And great food.

Sol also offers beautiful rooms--rates have increased though.

They do have beautiful rooms but the rooster started around 4 a.m. unless he's gone & the small planes flying in & out of grand case around 7 a.m. Our vacation is rest & relaxation. They are the reason we now have an espresso machine as that was the only coffee maker at that time & we learned to use it & love it. Now that we are seniors the 30 steps up to the room would be long a few times a day. Lovely though.

I don't do well with stairs either. I am interested in possibly eating there next time though, especially if they are still running that great lunch special!!

Thanks for the photos and report. My first-ever experience at Sol e Luna was last June. WendyK introduced me to their fixed-price lunch, and I can't wait to return next trip. Lovely setting, excellent food, great service. An all-around terrific experience.

We've enjoyed a wonderful fixed price meal at La Main a la Page. $/ €19 with 3 choices of starter main and dessert

Don't you love that auto correct. La main a la pate in Marigot marina. One of the waiters jokingly told me "no madame, you can't have a glass of wine. You have had your cappuccino ". Love that place.

Hello there. Can you tell me the location of Sol e luna. I love your pics btw.

Re: And the beat goes on - with photos - 11/01/2018 02:40 PM

Sol e luna is in the Mount Vernon section. Coming from Grand Casse towards Orient there is a round a bout where you would go to Pinel. Take the road to Pinel, about a quarter of a mile on the right is a sign for Sol e luna. Take a right there, and then it's about a 1/4 mile on your left. It was excellent when we went a couple of days ago.
