HGTV Sunday

HGTV Sunday - 01/20/2019 02:57 PM

Looks like a new program on HGTV at 8:00 PM, Eastern Time from St. Martin tonight. For those that haven't been on the island since the storm it may be a chance to see what the island looks like. It's on Beachfront Bargain Hunt.

The realtor is our neighbor and herself and husband were on a previous episode of one of the house hunting shows here a few years back.

Thanks for posting. I will probably be watching the football game tonight, but perhaps will look for it tomorrow.

I watched during football halftime. I thought Rainbow was the better of the 3 locals. And I wondered if Princess Heights area will still have that sewage smell from Westin once it's up and running again.

There has been a lot of discussion on some facebook groups if this was filmed pre or post Irma. The realtor made the comment when they were at the Princess Heights condo that it was close to casinos. I took that as close to the casino at the Westin which makes me believe this was shot before Irma.

Yes but one of the shots from Maho Beach showed the crane at Sonesta so i wasn't sure. Maybe it was a combination of pre and post Irma

Carol, any luck in finding last nights episode? Was Princess Heights one of the highlighted properties?

Thanks for the heads up. I set to record and watched it this morning. The couple bought the villa in Dawn Beach Estates over the princess heights condo and the Rainbow condo. Villas are a bargain to buy now because of Irma. IMHO the episode was filmed after Irma. The Westin had no solar panels on the roof which were blown off from the hurricane and the shot of Dawn Beach was definitely after Irma. $420k for the Dawn Beach Villa was a bargain! I thought they would have bought Rainbow by the husbands comments about maintaining a villa and private pool. The wife wanted a garden for her tomato plants. Cute couple. I wish them many years of happiness!

I was going to look for it on Hulu today, but haven't had time yet.

I agree with the above posts stating this appears to have been filmed after Irma. Was looking for little clues that would support this. I also thought I saw the construction crane in one shot, but I also noticed changes to the Ocean Lounge patio at Holland House where they first met with the realtor. I didn't recognize the new layout there, so I'm thinking these were changes made at HH after Irma. Regardless, I thought the program presented SXM really well and gave the island an 'inviting' look for those who have never visited in the past.

I thought the same thing at first, however after watching a couple sections multiples time, I think it was post IRMA. On the shot that showed Oyster Pond and Oyster Bay Beach Resort - it sure looked like Busbies was gone along with Canoa and the marina pier. Also, when they were walking on the Dawn Beach, you got a brief glimpse of an orange construction fence that is now on Dawn Beach.
