Mon Reve Guest House - 02/07/2019 02:42 AM

Mon Reve Guest House (my dream guest house)is on Friarโ€™s bay road. He speaks English as does his housekeeper, Shelly. We pay in US dollars . His rental cars are $200/week. He picks you up at airport & takes you back. Heโ€™s also a taxi driver & DJ at 101.5 St Martin. Wonderful people. Very reliable.

Thanks for posting this, Jeepers. If those are 'in-season' nightly prices 70 euros is like $81 USD at current exchange rates, so that's very good. I'll have to check out their website and remember this for a future visit. Just curious but is breakfast included, too?

Queen size bed? No thanks.

No breakfast not included. Price is all year. They aren't on the water so you need to drive to restaurants as well. You are lover the hill from Marigot & Grand Case is about 15 minutes the other way. He built it as a hurricane shelter so no damage. We went in 2018. There are 2 buildings.

Heard nothing but GREAT things about the place and Gus in discussions on Orient this past month. nice, clean, safe, reliable and good deal on cars just as you said.

BeachKitten--that was exactly my response, no thanks on the queen sized bed! laugh I also find that there is no use for ME personally to look at someplace that doesn't have a view, as I will not be happy. The price is certainly good though.

Our own personal view is we are at beach all day & don't want to pay double the price to see water at night. That money equates to many meals out. ๐Ÿ˜
We have 2 pools to look at. But that's just us. As you say that's why there's chocolate & vanilla. ๐Ÿค”

Thanks for the pictures. I drove by last time I visited Ruby Bute, and it does look nice. I get a better car rental deal from Leisure, however.

I remember our first trip to SXM had to have that view. Next year we booked mountain side instead of beach side because we never saw the view except from the beach. Now that we're older and spend less time on the beach (skin cancer) we always opt for the view. Nothing like early morning sitting on a lanai or balcony sipping coffee eating croissants , cocktails at 4pm watching the last bathers pack up for the day, or having the sound of waves lull you to sleep.

We like that he picks us up from airport the car is there ready at Mon reve & it stays there when he returns us to the airport. The plates don't have R on them so it's not obvious tourist car when parked anywhere.

Not sure, but think I know where this is. Quite sure I passed by it once. Would you agree that it's about a one mile (oops, I mean 1-1/2 kilometers) walk to Friar's Bay Beach along that road going north? My wife and I are really good walkers so that would be nothing to walk to the beach and back. And, if thats correct Happy Bay Beach would only be another 15 minutes away along the path if we wanted to go there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's also a pretty nice area and neighborhood as I recall. You'd need a car to get to the restaurants, but not necessarily for just a 'beach day.' Does that sound right?

It's a very nice neighbourhood. Yes your walk is correct. When you go down Friars Bay road you pass theGutside restaurant then go across the little bridge to the right then swing left to head to beach these buildings are on the right after you cross the bridge. Lots of people from Gus's walk to beach.

Thanks much. I am going to put a circle around this place and maybe next year give it a try. Too late for this year, however. Appreciate letting all of us know about it.
