What is the strike all about on the French side? And are the roads open?

This has been an ongoing situation. We decided against a drive around the island today.
There are no road closures. It's near Hope Estate, lots of cars lining the road along the airport runway, but people off the road.

Apparently there were some road blockades yesterday, but the gendarmes cleared the road
