Lee's Roadside Grill - 03/20/2019 01:37 PM

For those currently on the island, I would be interested to know what progress has been made on Lee's new location and if the they have a proposed reopening date. Thanks for any info.

Jeff Berger just posted they should open in about a month.

Jeff just does a lot of guessing. I take most of his news with a grain of salt.

Parking will be a nightmare there and will cause a mess and problems for traffic on Billy Folly Rd as well as businesses in that area.

It's a smaller building with less seating and not on the water. Might not be as big a draw to drive too but within walking distance from many resorts.

I hope to see Lee and ask him personally. I see him from my balcony but by the time I get down there, he is gone. They are making progress with 3-4 workers each day, about the same number as working at Royal Palm. The main structure is built, roof on, bar is being built and an awning structure is going around the edge of the roof. I see no grill yet but the area is there for it. I would say it will be a minimum of 1 month if not 2 or somewhere in between. No doubt, parking will be an issue if you are not within walking distance.

Re: Lee's Roadside Grill - 03/20/2019 04:32 PM

Ok, I just went down and walked off the approximate dimensions. It is approx. 45' X 35', rectangular in shape and the bar in the middle. I would guess there would be tables around at least 3 sides if not all 4 sides. Not sure if the kitchen might be behind the bar or in a separate structure that will likely house the grill. Restrooms appear to be a newly built structure attached to the existing house that is there. It is nowhere near as large as the old structure. Unless there is parking behind the house, there might be 2 available parking spots from what I see.

After taking a closer look from our balcony, I believe there are two semi-attached structures, one being the kitchen and the other the grill area that are not part of the main structure. If I can get a couple I pictures, I will email them to Carol for posting. No promises though.

If I so see Lee in the next 2 days I will see if I can get more information.

Yup, MAYBE two parking spots, in front anyway.

Thanks for posting that. Very limited parking if any. I'll be walking.

I have read somewhere on Facebook that there will be parking available in the back.

Thanks for posting.

I just spoke with Lee so this is as accurate and up to date information as I can provide.

He hopes to be open in "a month or so", seating for 50-60 people and the bar. The red roof will be the BBQ grill area and the other smaller structure will be the kitchen. He implied there would be "some" parking behind the house but I see no access to that area now so that will need to be addressed. He also said he would rely on some "valet parking", no idea where but that is what he said. He is also thinking about doing breakfast once things start rolling. He wants to downsize and slow down but still have a business. He had 3-4 workers today and he was also working along side them. Looks like they had a late lunch/snack from Burger King as Lee was on a break and took the time to chat with me.

We have a mutual local friend and he recognized me from having been in the restaurant with him many times in the past. It was good to chat with Lee and get facts versus hearsay.

I personally wish Lee well but I also think parking will be a problem.

Thanks JD for that most recent update. Nothing like getting the information right from Lee. Later at night I can see people parking in the lot of Market Garden after that business closes for the day. Lots of parking there then, but not much available for valet parking around there unless he has a secret we are not aware of in that location.

Re: Lee's Roadside Grill - 03/20/2019 07:36 PM

Not to say, things may change, but this is what Lee told me. There is some area there and also another side street/alley but nothing really prepared for parking right now. Pretty sure Lee lives up in the area so perhaps he does have something that will work for valet parking,

Off to the beach or bar!

Parking will be the problem. The potential Valet parking could be done on Kim Sha Beach area if it will be allowed.
And some parking can be had in Simpson Bay Yacht Club area.
