Tuesday Travel and last trip report getting home. - 06/13/2019 04:55 PM

This Tuesday...AA 2219 from SXM to Miami. Dropped off our luggage in the morning at Thrifty(will not leave luggage in the car) and went for last lunch at Tropicana and drinks before that. Returned to Thrifty at 2.00pm and guy loaded luggage in our same rental car and took us to the airport and immediately got a wheelchair chappie for the wife. This guy took our passports and literary from drop off to airport lounge....3 minutes!!!!!! Whoa!! We were early. Very impressed from our last tent experience to air-conditioned area with a few shops, the blue bitch bar, that makes great BBC's, plus food place with sandwiches, pizza, etc and after about 45 minutes(good toilet facilities as well) guy fetches my wife and wizzes us through, no bus to contend with, as we walk to plane, only thing difficult was getting up the stairs to the plane, just hope this changes soon as saw ramps for other planes. Very impressed with the airport changes since just 6 months ago and just to let you know, confirmed by the guy that helped us, Tuesday is the quietest day of the week to travel.......it was incredibly peaceful with hardly anyone there. Plane landed 15 minutes early but unfortunately lightning at Miami, so sat on plane for about 15 minutes and luggage delayed as union rules call for no off loading whilst lightning in area. Exhausting,(more so for my wife as was in quite a bit of pain, see below) but otherwise back home safe and also arranged wheelchair at Miami and again was through in under 5 minutes and out of customs, also incredibly quiet and saw no waiting in any lines through passport control. Tuesday travel, make a note of it, because Miami, as some of you know, can be nightmare of a place.

Booking now for December return.........................cant wait. But in between, if all things improve quickly(never mentioned this but wife fell down in Anguilla and did her ribs in again) although cancelled a Provence trip(just too much) will visit UK for three weeks in Sept/Oct and as yet, have not cancelled a week in Turks and Caicos at the Grace Bay club which was planned next month. Will see how it goes, but as mentioned before, SXM favorite place to be.....

We too were in the airport on Tuesday. Much like your experience it was a quick and enjoyable experience. We were on the Jet Blue flight to Fort Lauderdale. Hope your wife gets well soon.

Thanks Bran for all your reports while in SXM. I sincerely hope your wife's health improves and you are able to continue your travels. You are a real trooper to take on so much and I wish you well in all your plans! A wheel chair attendent at the airports solves all your problems with waiting in lines!
