Is St.Maarten up and running again?

Is St.Maarten up and running again? - 09/07/2019 08:07 PM

I haven't checked this forum in a long time, so If this has been answered before, please give me the links to them, as I really would like to read about it.
But I was wondering if The Island with all it's businesses, hotels, resorts, beaches and especially the Airport, is up and running again after hurricane Irma?

Grand Case is taking its time to rebuild build as is most of the French side. The Dutch side is booming.

The airport is up and running, as are most businesses. SXM is not 'good as new', but doing well..

From Oak Island and Southport NC, Dorian was more of a rain event than wind. We lost power in the old part of Southport but that is because most power lines are still above ground. The strongest wind gust were that of a weak Cat 2.

Travelhat, we were not there for that event, but here in SXM. But we have many friends and neighbors around us that actually stayed for Dorian, but left for Florence. They said everyone did just fine, a little wind and rain, no big deal. In fact from what we’ve heard and seen, from friends sending us pictures, we haven’t heard of any damage, that a great thing, because a lot people in the area are still recovering from Florence. Hope this helps and thanks for asking!

On island @ LaPlage. Island appears fairly busy for hurricane season. Traffic is moderate. The only drawback is that several of our favorite restaurants are closed for the month. We have been experimenting with places that are new to us. Good luck so far. 2 old places we have never been that have been excellent.

SXMFox--I would be very worried, being on island, when a hurricane was hitting at home!! Glad you had no damage at home.

Bar Code is closed until October. Same with most places on the strip in Maho. They were closed and shuttered the entire time we were there.

Overall, the island seems to be recovering nicely.

Is Jax closed? I was thinking someone said it was supposed to reopen around the first of October?
