Sunday - A Day Of Rest

Sunday - A Day Of Rest - 11/11/2019 11:31 AM

And rest we certainly did!

We got up fairly early - I think the sounds from the crashing waves may have had something to do with that - or not. More likely, the fact we wanted to go to the Yacht Club for breakfast and couldn’t remember the times of the bridge openings and didn’t want to get stuck on the wrong side of the bridge in traffic. Whatever the reason, we made it in time and managed to get the last parking spot in their little lot. Today was the day Monique aka Moss aka Mo returned to work after more of her incredible world wanderings. She looks great and well rested after her travels and said they had a ball. We have followed her from the days she and Chris first worked at Karakter when it originally opened so we were quite surprised when she said he had actually left the Yacht Club and was now working at Mary’s Boon, somedays on the beach and others in the restaurant itself. Guess we’ll have to stop by to say hi one of these days.

Most of the big yachts have not returned for the season yet but they’ll be back soon and in the meantime there were still some good sized boats going out. We also got to watch the kids from the sailing club in their sailboats heading out for what someone told us was their own regatta. There was a bunch of them, all so serious and intent on their sailing as should be the case in those open waters. One thing we have really missed this trip is the big yachts that usually anchor in Simpson Bay outside the lagoon. It’s always fun to sit on our deck or the beach in front of our unit and watch them and speculate about the owners and the various ports of call they’ve seen and experienced. Since we’ve been here we’ve seen a lot of cruise ships passing by and two or three working boats anchored but none of the big boys and their fancy toys so far.

The majority of guests here were away on a sailing trip to Anguilla Sunday so it was very quiet. We spent much of our day at the pool and after lunch in our unit, we had a visitor - Jeannie Gee stopped by for a chat so it was nice to catch up with her. We even got to share some young and fresh coconut milk, thank you John for getting the coconut, opening it when we both said he wouldn’t be able to and then for sharing it with us.

Sunday dinner and I finally got my Fat Tony’s pizza. It was yummy. Maybe even enough left-overs for lunch. The compromise for Fat Tony’s was we ordered a small pizza for me and John finally got his steak from there that he’s wanted to try for a couple years now. Truth is, the steak was very good and it was a complete dinner served with salad, fries and sautéed mushrooms. Between the two of us, dinner with sodas and tip included came to a whopping big $41.00. Not sure we could afford to splurge that way but what the heck, why not go for broke.

And as I sit here writing this, I’ve now watched at least two very good sized cruise ships head into port with the strong probability of more to follow.

Sounds like another good day. Sounds like a good deal at Fat Tony's. We did Bar Code again but Fat Tony's is on our list.

Thanks for keeping the memories alive for us....we tried Fat Tony's for the first time a few weeks ago and were glad we did as well! We had a burger and grilled chicken sandwich, nothing fancy but the food was delicious and the price was right! The staff were very pleasant and welcoming--felt like we were Fat Tony "regulars" which is always nice.

Enjoy another day in paradise!

Because of friends we met at Mullet, we were able to rent a 2 bedroom condo at the Rainbow for the month of February so I know we'll be eating at Bar Code, Fat Tony's and Spaghetti House quite a bit. And the best part is- most nights we'll be able to walk there!! Can't wait.
Thanks again for taking me along on your November trip.

Monique working at The Boon makes that another possible spot to spend a day on our next trip. We have considered Fat Tony's for this upcoming trip, need to add some new places, but not sure we can go $41! Cheers and have a great trip Pat and John!

Sorry to have caused some confusion, Todd. Monique is still at the Yacht Club. It’s Chris that is now working at Mary’s Boon.

We really like Fat Tony’s but it’s definitely NOT for everyone. And I know that big ticket dinner check could be a deterrent for you but go for it.......

It’s been a great trip so far and now with our daughter here it’s gotten even better!

I could see Monique at Mary's Boon more than Chris but still, adding a quality person to the staff like Chris helps! I get you on Fat Tony's, but there is a good chance we give it a try this next trip. Thanks for getting the island warmed up prior to our arrival!

Sounds like another great day Pat. We went to Fat Tony's last Tuesday. We all really enjoyed ourselves there. I had the smoked brisket dinner which was delicious. A couple of the other had the pizza and really enjoyed it too.
