Water quality

We arrive on the 30th (2 weeks) and where wondering if there has been any updates on the water quality? We usually stay on the Dutch side and then travel over to Orient beach. In the past we just bought two bottles of water and then just kept filling them each day from the faucet. Are water tests still finding Bromate in the water?

The French-side water supply is the one which tested positive for Bromates. There have been no reports that I’ve seen of Bromates being found in the Dutch-side water supply, but I don’t know that the Dutch side every actually tested for Bromates. I’ve also never got an answer as to whether the French-side testing is new, or something which has been done for years.

I have been here for 10 days (Dutch side) and made coffee and drank the tap water daily without issue. I can not speak for the French side.

We have always drunk tap water on the Dutch side but bottled water on the French side.

And for me, over our almost two weeks I’ve used bottled water for packaged iced tea, lemonade and drinking water but tap water for fresh tea and coffee. We’ve always used tap water for everything in the past but as we get a little older and the tummies get a little more sensitive I would rather play it safe and not take any chances. I still remember Mexico and in fact, I will never forget that.......

Drink Dutch tap water daily, no problems at all.

Last year on our trip to the French side was the exception, because of Irma we used bottled water for everything including brushing our teeth.
We're not fans of plastic bottles but it wasn't worth the risk imho.

Been drinking tap water for over 20 years for all of out visits on the Dutch side with no ill affects.

For about 45 of our 47 years coming here and usually staying on the Dutch side, we always ONLY drank the tap water but post Irma and remembering personal experiences in Mexico, I’ve come to think maybe I don’t want to take any chances. I think 99% of all who drink the tap water on the Dutch side will be fine, but that one percent with the iffy tummy would probably include me so I just don’t take any chances.

Took a cruise once and Mexico was one of the stops. About half of the cruise passengers were sick including myself. They tried to say it was Norvo Virus but I did my own southing and found only those who ate the mussels got ill. But that's not my message. It's that the day we stopped in Mexico was the only time I ate and drank and DIDN'T get sick, go figure.
