Too bad May Ling Chun, in her most prestigious position, can’t get the same result for the Towers building and all its owners. Oh wait, it’s her BF and his boss that are holding everything up........

Pat--are you being charged AMF at the Towers now? Any news at all about reopening there?

Well, we’re being charged but I doubt anyone’s paying them although I could be wrong. And now, even RCI has caught on to their scam and is no longer accepting Towers owners trades.

We were paid in full through 2018 but I did NOT pay 2019. In my mind, had I been able to stay there in April 2020 I would have paid them happily but at this point, even if the Towers was to open, in my heart I know the remediation efforts of mold removal would be minimal if at all, and the grief to date would take too much of the joy from staying there again so basically, I think we’re done. It’s hard to walk away because we truly love our unit there and they have acknowledged in writing they already owe me four weeks but given the high AMFs on our unit it’s just no longer worth paying it when there are so many lovely places to stay. We will miss the staff who became more like a family but we can always stop by and visit.

Besides which, knowing that the owner, Mr. Ansary and his manager, Mr. Darby, and Ms. Chun - an island government member which, in my mind anyway, is almost worse yet, - have all, in their own ways, been playing fast and loose with us, there is no great desire to put more dollars in their coffers. We may come to regret this decision but my point of view is I have thirty years of multi-week trips of great memories so it’s time to let it go and move on.

And regarding the reopening date, there is none. They have to settle all the Ansary issues with the Bank of Curaçao and any other entities that may be involved, and then, there’s still the question of the Mullet Bay land ownership which might or might not further complicate things, although supposedly, the Towers sits in a free-standing piece of land separate from all the rest.

Yep.
Clarence is taking CASH and allowing people to stay at the Towers. It is all under the table.
They are taking the golf course money to pay salaries and keep things going on a shoestring, but that does NOT include any repairs, remediation, or replacement.

Pat and Leona--sorry to hear that. I know it is very difficult for you to walk away at this point, but definitely understand why.

Pat we are so with you. We have owned at the Towers since pre construction I think 1985. I like to say we were young and stupid. Well we have gotten at least 30 great years on the island and have loved every visit. What is aggravating to me is that we have not even received a letter from them. We stopped there last January and no one would even talk with us. Every call is we may be open soon and have you paid your maintenance fee. Now why in the world would I pay a fee when the resort is not open and I cannot use it. I do not know what rights we have but I just think they want the long time owners out. Yes we have now found places to rent and for the week it is cheaper then our maintenance fee but there was just always something about going to our unit that we loved. We will be back this January and I think I may go make some noise this year just for principles sake. Please let me know if you hear or know anything more.

Are you on a Facebook? There is a Towers Timeshare group for unit owners only that would give you a wealth of information as to what’s been going on and what’s not. It’s easy to join and might be worth Your efforts to do so, if only to fill you in on what’s been happening there. Or more like, what’s NOT been happening.

Beach kitten aka Leona can fill you in in the details since I believe she was one of the people who started the group.

Aha...that explains it then. Around 9pm heard these bangs and thought it was July 4th again. In Terrres Basses and it was coming from behind La Samanna which we overlook. It was quite impressive.
