Jet Blue changes

Jet Blue changes - 02/01/2020 02:28 PM

Someone posted here something to the affect that all airlines cause you problems eventually, or something like that. Well, you jinxed us because we've never had a problem with Jet Blue until this upcoming trip.

I admit the change is not big. Our flight now leaves at 6 am arrives 10:15 then leaves an hour earlier on return. What upsets me is while in the process of checking (re-checking?) our flight to see if JB had added another later flight, I found the tiers have changed. Many changes: chargedfor seat selection, last to board in the 1st tier. 2nd tier is now general boarding, next is priority boarding. And the price for checked baggage increased.

So our next trip will be subjected to these changes. Looks like JB has joined all other airlines except Southwest.

This can be big if you have a connecting flight. Hope they don't mess with our flight in early March. We are flying from Buffalo, NY to JFK and have a one hour and forty minute layover at JFK before departing to SXM. Sure don't want them to cut into that layover time (especially at JFK). Time to check our reservations now!

Appreciate the 'heads-up' RonDon. Yep, they did change our flight, but it's our return flight which now leaves PJIA a half hour later but still allows for an hour and a half to pass customs & immigration at JFK (which should still be okay). We just now land in Buffalo a half hour later so not a game changer here, thank goodness. Our flights to SXM remain as scheduled.

SammyM fortunately for us the flight is direct Boston- SXM but I think I'll get a hotel room instead of driving from where we live (1 hour) parking at a lot. That way can go to bed early (hopefully sleep) get up and then shuttle to departures. I think knowing I'm closer to airport will allow less stress of being sure we get up in time then have the drive in darkness.

Good to hear your flight stays the same except upon return. I usually don't care about return changes since check-out is usually around 11 am, get to airport, etc. Our flights are March 14 then return March 28.

We used to do the Hotel Park, Sleep & Fly thing but for the last five or so years have just driven up the day of the flight....usually in the wee hours of the AM when there is zero traffic for the one hour drive. Driving to BOS in Friday rush hour traffic was just not worth it. The shuttle to/from the hotel ran every half hour instead of every 10 minutes or less for the parking lot, and the hotel stay was significantly more expensive.

There IS a value in doing whatever you feel more comfortable with so go with your gut....

Agreed Boucharda. I always feel we should just make the drive then I worry about weather and say to myself it would be better to take all the time we need in daylight to drive to hotel then whatever comes we are there, and should there be more weather problems we don't have to search for a hotel. Last time I checked Pre=Flight is was only slightly less than the hotel. I didn't check prices this year we just chose one of the Hilton chain places and are using points. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes, 24 hours.
