Max 8 still on schedule for mid June

Max 8 still on schedule for mid June - 02/06/2020 05:18 PM

The Max 8 is still on the AA schedule for mid June from SXM to Miami, as of today. Our flight down from Miami to SXM in late May has now been switched to the 738 (for which I have gotten ZERO notification so far) but the flight back is still on the Max 8, as of now. And unfortunately, they have kept the earlier Max 8 flight time, leaving Miami around 10:55, as compared to the time for the other flight, which left Miami around 12:30. If those times stay in place, we may drive to Miami the night before. A 3.5 hour drive to catch a flight at 11 AM really stinks...

Hmmmm. Some of our SXM flights have required an hour and a half drive to the airport for a 6 am departure so the 11 am sounds pretty good to me. I really enjoyed it when AA had the 8 am n/s to SXM but those are a thing of the past, too.

Pat--the flight we originally booked left Miami at 12:30. That sounds much better to me..

Have you tried talking to a supervisor about this?

To say what? I am on a nonstop from Miami. There is only one nonstop from Miami, unless they end up adding another flight, which I doubt, at this point. I'm thinking they will eventually change the flight home also, away from the Max 8. Nothing to do but wait at this point. A supervisor can't really help me. But I am really surprised they are still selling flights booked on Max 8 for that time frame.

"To say what?"
To get a better clarification on what and when changes will be made. I have found superiors have more information that what is currently posted on web sites or regular phone operators. But that's your call to make.

You'll never know unless you call.

Although not a max the normal Miami 2219 flight that I have taken forever, for whatever reason they changed the flight number, not the time, but have now changed it back again. They have issues. Now on top of this I think I heard yesterday that a Boeing 737 split into three on landing and killed 3 people.

That was In Turkey and had a 100 foot drop on runway before it skid off runway and then broke up.

My March flight number to SXM changed but the return hasn't ---yet. Any idea why flight numbers change?

Equipment changes, flight consolidations or sometimes departure times will cause a flight number to change.

They have just found some more issues with the Max: plenty of debris in their fuel tanks. I think the Max will be out of work still for a lot more time to come, if it will ever fly again as airlines have lost their trust in this aereomobile model

The debris in the fuel tank isn't supposed to put any further delay getting max 8 qualified according to Boeing.

Re: Max 8 still on schedule for mid June - 02/20/2020 04:04 PM

I just today got an email notifying me that our flight down in May has changed off the Max 8 to a 738, along with the time change, with a very slight upgrade in seat assignment, closer to the front, but NOT in the extra leg room seats. I paid for just regular seats. Our return flight is still listed on the Max 8, but it looks like they are not going to be doing formal changes to schedule until February 23, so presumably at some point after then, we will be notified that our return flight has been changed.

I must have now had it changed back and forwards 5 times from 2219 to 1129(or 39) can't remember, in fact they have my wife and I returning on two different flight numbers although the times and seats haven't changed..we are in FC.

Yeah "according" to Boeing the Max was still airworthy after the first and 2nd accident

I'm not arguing that fact. All I said was this fuel tank problem isn't going to add any additional delays as per Boeing anouncement.

Scuba but I am not disputing you but Boeing's statement

I guess they're just going to ignore the recently discovered debris in fuel tank 737 MAC problem. I'm NOT flying that airplane.

Who said they are going to ignore it?
