Day 4

Day 4 - 03/07/2020 02:47 AM

Went for breakfast to Le Crossontery in Marigot, probably still our favourite place so far for breakfast. The coffee was awesome, the crapes were delicious and the croissants were superb but I think they became smaller compare to last year... I would say at least 25% smaller! Neither the less, everything was delicious and we were very happy. The view however was not the same, it’s really a pity to see the decimation of marina... But enough already about it.
We spend the day at Baie Ruge and it was great! Calm waters, soft sand and quite. There were maybe 30 people at max.
The first grey villa has been rebuilt it looks like, the next one is still under construction but it was nice to see some progress anyway. We went for a walk to check them out as we always do...
The dinner was at the pizza place at Port de plesance (sp). The place was packed solid thanks to the Regatta crowds. We had wonderful calzone and a pizza to share with a few drinks, they had live music entertainment that was also very nice to see.
After that we decided to walk and check the regatta grounds. Big crown this year! Way nicer organized and way bigger place than last year or other years.... A few shops selling their merchandise, few food kiosks and a few crowd entertaining venues. It was fun! Came back to Maho around 9:45pm, pretty much all of the shops were closed, a few bars and restaurants are still open. The Hole in a Wall had a crowd as usual.
We decided to walk thru Sonesta Maho but were fought by a security guard who informed us that this place is all inclusive only now and nobody is allowed to enter the grounds anymore unless you have a bracelet... Yep... the new Sonesta building is an all inclusive for families and the one that was renovated and opened last year- the premium one- now is adults only.
We didn’t feel like arguing and left.

LOL there is no arguing with them. This policy of guest only was instituted when they reopened after Irma. We stay right door at Royal Islander, and always had access to the pool and facilities there. (Sonesta and Royal Islander both owned by Spadarro family). When we went in to see te new renovated lobby, we too were escorted out. Told the guard we are owners at the timeshare, and the response was that we were no longer welcome to come into sonesta without being a paid up guest. So much for 30 years of doing it. So be it. As for the Ocean Point....that was rebuilt prior to Irma, and again after, but when it first opened up...it was an ''upscale adult resort". Kids were then and still today NOT WELCOME there.

It's good they are enforcing resort policies. Wish more resorts did this.

Thanks for the report. Did they change, so that you no longer have to pay at Regatta events?

There are fees for Regatta village I think starting today or yesterday for the concerts. I will try to find and post!
