Restricting Cruise Ships??? - 03/12/2020 02:42 PM
Would it not be prudent for St. Maarten to restrict cruise ships until this pandemic resolves? Airline passengers would be easier to screen in terms of numbers but may be wise to restrict from heavily infected countries.

Who knows what is going to happen? Princess cruise lines is suspending operations for 60 days. Possibly other lines will follow.

Some cruise ships (including at least one from Holland America) made port in SXM last week. Met those people on Orient Beach. I do expect this to tighten up in the upcoming weeks.

I find it hard to understand anyone getting on a cruise ship now! I doubt I would fly either. It only takes one sneeze.I ain't rich but I would cancel any plans to travel with a bunch of other people in closed quarters. My opinion.

I agree, KC. I heard there was one cruise ship running around last week that had three previously scheduled port-of-calls. It didn't make a single one of them, but ended up at three different ports that did accept them. Crazy.

Cruise ships are nothing. You can get away from other people if you want. Airplanes you can't get away and are touching for hours.
