Good for Flamingo, bad for SBR

Good for Flamingo, bad for SBR - 03/13/2020 12:19 PM

Been here for the last 4 weeks, in the front B building.
Good news for Flamingo “owners”. Work on the Flamingo the first week consisted of 8-10 men mostly milling around. Second week work was done on AC unit’s on roofs. Third week someone must have told them that the expected date to open was this year. Still would be amazed if they are ready much before September.
Bad news for SBR “owners”, Very active work site 6 days a week with drilling and grinding starting at 7 am, ending around 3:30pm. LOUD. More intrusive than Roxy’s music, for sure! More reason to go offsite for the day, so we are off to Friars!

Personally I view that as good news for SBR owners; such as myself. Perhaps not so good news for current guests.....

Target date is August for opening. I understand there is a lot of work being done on the interior that is not observed by people not inside.

Marge, Here at the villas Roxxy is much worse than the contruction, Loud boom-boon, not even music, starts about noon and goes until at least midnight.
There have been alot of complaints to management here, but they don't seem to be able to get any results. I have been here watching the
slow progress at the Flamingo for over for two months and walking all the way around the buildings several times and never heard one fifth
the amount of the noise that comes from Roxxy.

I wouldn't think there should be as much as all the heavy jack hammering and tile removal has been completed. Inside plumbing, wiring, wall finishing, electrical etc doesn't generate to much audible sound. There is still some exterior grinding and finishing being done which does create noise. End results will be good.

Scubaman--marge is there, so if she says there is drilling and grinding, I would be inclined to think there is..

You must have missed what I stated in my post. Exterior grinding and finishing is being done on the walls of building 7 which is next to SBR.

"bad for SBR" sounds like a created issue involving SBR that will have to be tolerated for some time rather than a temporary work issue that will end. Agree...those are there now..well..it sucks..but it will not last forever

Totally agree. The noise from Roxxy is horrible at the Villas.

I really didn't see what the draw was to Roxy's.? The music I heard while walking by,,was bad...but I am so surprised, when we stayed above the Greenhouse,,and acutally could see Roxy's that banging booming music was not heard on our outside living areas?? Doesnt make sense to me. We were outside a lot even in the evening and never heard anything other than music from Buccanneer and it was not overwhelming at all. Must just be the way sound travels. Just an observation. I feel bad if people in the villas at sbr have to listen to that booming every night....someone should be able to do something about that. We popped into Roxy's on way back from dinner one night...sure was not a welcoming feeling, and besides,,,wouldnt have stayed anyways....definitely a "certain" crowd . We didn't seem to click, lol. How in the world will people staying at the Royal Palm when it re-opens be able to tolerate it? Wow

Well, you can see into building 4 and 7, and there is no interior work being done. Doors and windows are in, but from a good view from the A. Building here, materials, but no workers. Wall boards are lying on floor, nothing on wall but studs. AC on roofs generating the drilling into concrete slabs, and jackhammering and grinding from units on the beach. A bit of exterior work being done. To make August timeline, they would have to add at least 3 times more workers.
As a SBR member, I wish Flamingo the best of luck, as I appreciate early morning peace and quiet.

marge--it will be interesting to see what happens with it. I thought the timeline from Diamond was that they planned to receive back the property from the construction around August and then ready it for occupation after that, with a very fuzzy timeline as to how long it would take after they receive back the property. So, not putting any furniture or furnishings etc., in till after August? Just stocking the units will take quite some time, I would think. Regardless, I doubt it will happen by then.

Regarding the noise from Roxxy, the electronic music festival is over this weekend, I think, so maybe the noise will calm down then. Noise has a weird way of traveling. We often hear bass from SOMEWHERE down toward Karakter or beyond, way down at Beachside Villas.

Timeline to receive building back from contractors was always end of June first of July and then start stocking with furniture etc for August occupancy. But that is if all goes as scheduled.

If the contractors are finished by June, I want to hire them to do my bathroom. They must be great.

They have over 200 workers split between the 2 resorts. Not out of the question that they could get it done in time. Not much work gets done on Saturdays or Sundays which could be the reason you or another poster didn't notice many workers today.

From the number of cars parked near the two resorts in question, there appears to be a lot of workers but I have no idea on what progress they are making. I saw a lot of them walking in the vicinity of Flamingo last night around 6:00pm. They must have just gotten off work. Personally, I would not bet on either resort being open for some time yet, especially Royal Palm.

A lot of workers stay on Flamingo property in the special housing they put up to accommodate about 200. Some are bused from there to the Royal Palm.
