And for a change, it appears the scooter/cycle rider was NOT at fault.

Maybe so, but they were both travelling in the same direction so.....

Up to the driver attempting to turn left to yield.

If they were both going the same direction the scooter must have been beside him or behind him. Looks like the scooters fault to me.

George--I agree. The article said the car driver was at fault, but I don't see how that could be. If the motorcyclist is behind the car and the car is turning left and the cyclist comes to go around the car and hits the car, maybe it's the car's fault if he doesn't have his left turn signal on?

I had read this before, that regardless of whether or not the car is signaling its turn, it's at fault because it's turning.

Right, but the scooter would have to be splitting lanes.

Huh. Doesn't make sense to me.

I also have read that this is how they would treat it. Doesn’t make any sense to me but then, these days, lots of things don’t.

Regardless of who might - or might not? - be at fault, another life was needlessly lost and the driver of the auto will forever carry that burden in his heart.

We never drive that way because of the crazy scooter drivers.
