Covid test

Covid test - 09/03/2020 02:05 AM

I just had my annual health and physical exam. I asked about the pcr covid test and the return time. I was pleasantly surprised when he said that they can get results in 24 hours but could not guarantee it. When the virus was going strong and testing was slow he said it to up to 10 days to get the results from the lab. He made me feel that there would be a good chance that I could meet the 72 hour requirement as long as the lab doesn't get overloaded with tests. My dr is part of a large regional hospital chain in eastern Pa. Saint Luke's they do the testing and send out to the lab. I can get the test any time all depends on the lab. I hope this may be applicable to others.
Something I just learned that most of the credit card companies do not cover collision any more. I am going to Florida this Friday and called on 4 of my credit cards to make sure that collision was covered and all said they stopped that last year. I have a united card which is the only one that pay for and they do cover collision. I am glad I called to verify as I was not aware of the change maybe this will be informative to some.

Wouldn’t your own auto insurance cover liability and collision if you are renting in the US?? Not sure what kind of credit cards you have but my Chase Reserve and AMEX platinum both cover collision. Chase Sapphire as well. But none cover liability.

The car rental insurance information for the various Amex cards can be found at https://www.americanexpress.com/us/...tal-loss-and-damage-insurance-terms.html

Most credit card rental insurance is Secondary, meaning that you have to first file with your personal car insurance company, but some are Primary.

Amex also offers a premium car rental insurance plan, which is fee-based, a fee per rental, not a fee per day. https://feeservices.americanexpress.com/premium/car-rental-insurance-coverage/home.do

The Points Guy has written about some cards which include car rental insurance. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/cards-primary-car-rental-coverage/

Of my personal credit cards, the only one that offers any kind of car rental coverage is my Cap One VISA. I know Discover dropped it a year or so ago. As others stated, your personal auto insurance in primary.

I use the United Explorer card for my car rentals because coverage is primary not secondary

Quote
Decline the rental company’s collision insurance and charge the entire rental cost to your United Explorer Card. Coverage is primary and provides reimbursement up to the actual cash value of the vehicle for theft and collision damage for most rental cars in the U.S. and abroad

My other card (Jetblue plus Mastercard) has secondary coverage in the USA and primary coverage outside the USA

As mentioned neither provides liability coverage

We have kept our Diners Club card active because it does provide primary collision insurance.

Yeah, who really reads those itty bitty type-print card updates that come in the mail? lol

Thanks for this heads up, I guess I need to check our coverage on the cards we have. Usually count on Amex and Cap 1.

To my knowledge, no card covers liability. Only collision.

Thanks for your response i had always relied on collision coverage and never gave thought to my personal coverage. I found out I am covered for US and Canada. I haven't rented a car in the US for a few years as most of the recent vacations in US we drove to.

This one seems to evolved into a discussion about rental car collision coverage; perhaps the title of the thread should be edited?

Not really as the second paragraph of the OP’s post was about credit card car rental coverage.

How about we end it and a new thread can be started on either or both topics.

Thanks.
