Evacuation Insurance

Evacuation Insurance - 02/22/2021 05:32 PM

What is everyone doing for evacuation insurance?
I did a search, but thought I might find out the latest info.

I see that SkyMed does not cover Covid and I don't need a policy for all travel issues,
that we usually get, so there is no reason for the package deal.
Any suggestions??

If you are talking about evac for COVID, the REQUIRED SXM insurance (at a cost of $30 each) covers medical evac for COVID, up to $20,000. In other words, it is absolutely worthless for medical evac, as 20K will NOT get you back to the states. The SXM insurance does NOT cover a medical evac for other purposes at all. IF you are able to get your shots before you go, you should not need medical evac for Covid. Since we will have had our shots before our next trip, we will just buy other medical evac insurance and will probably still have to waste $30 each for the useless SXM required insurance. If you will not have your shots by the time you travel, I would look for some other medical insurance that covers medical evac for Covid, as I would not trust the SXM medical insurance at all.

MedJet Assist covers COVID evac, with restrictions.

We always get insurance for evacuation, but thought if we were buying it, we might as well get it from a company that includes Covid.
We will have our vaccines, so just forgetting that.
Maybe we will try SkyMed.
It will be the 1st time that we aren't getting the total package, so had questions.

Be aware that SkyMed is a great product, in that it takes you back to your HOME, as compared to other insurance, which often takes you to the nearest medically appropriate hospital. However, SkyMed does medical evac ONLY, so if you need medical coverage for outside the US, they do not do that.

If you want to compare several insurance policies side by side, you can go to TTOL sponsor Insure my Trip. If you book through the link here on TTOL, TTOL gets a small commission, and the cost to you is the same. If you are interested in SkyMed only, again, if you click on the link here on TTOL, we get a small commission and the cost is the same to tyou.
