Is kind of amazing we can sit back and look into the Atlantic and see things developing 5+ days out.
How did they get any warning before satellites? Ships radioing current horrendous conditions.

Went through eye of Hurricane Carol in 1954 in RI. Absolutely no warning.

The only hurricane watch is for New Orleans on the 16th anniversary of Katrina.
Predictions have it a Cat 4 maybe 5 with pressure as low as Irma.
Hurricane Ida, I is the most retired name in the names for hurricanes.
