CanuckTravl, my husband and I are on the same flight as you for January 13. I keep hoping the flight is booked enough that it actually goes and that we don’t end up having to pit stop anywhere else because they’re combining flights. I think I might end up with an ulcer with overthinking everything. 🙄

Wouldn’t it be better to track recent antibody scores, rather than whether you got a shot. It was recently published thAt 30% of immunocompromised folks did not develop any antibodies after the first round. False security.

Plus, we now know immunity wanes over time. I heard that your immunity can go up/down daily based on other factors like other sickness, even sleep.

@CanadianCutie Interesting coincidence. Let's keep our fingers crossed! We are looking forward to the new Premium Class layout, now that all WestJet's aircraft have been reconfigured while most of them were sitting idle due to the pandemic.

Travel is more difficult in almost every aspect these days, but I keep telling myself it's too early to start worrying yet. We'll see what happens with the November and December flights. That will be the first test and indicator of demand.

@PelicanPirate, your post is mostly irrelevant to this thread.

Scubaman's post was a matter of factual information, not an invitation to turn this into yet another Covid discussion. The Government of Canada has mandated that all travellers 12 and over must be fully-vaccinated to fly, take the train, or a cruise ship, as of October 30th. That is the reality that everyone has to be aware of if they are travelling in Canada, or to or from Canada (e.g. to or from SXM).

Over 80% of all eligible Canadians age 12 and over are already fully vaccinated, and almost 90% have had at least one dose. The government is doing its part to incentivize those not already vaccinated to do so and ensuring they don't unnecessarily endanger the rest of us. We will also need a Covid test within 72 hours to both enter SXM and to reenter Canada. That combination of requirements helps minimize the risk of transmission. I support that initiative.

Ive already scheduled my monthly booster shot and antigen test so I can keep my papers fresh for travel to Canada.

Do you know you only need an antigen test to enter St Martin? Within 48 hours rather than 72, but $40 rather than $150-$200!

Yes, thanks George. I'm aware of that. My comment was designed to be general, rather than technical. When I referred to a Covid test within 72 hours, it was intended to include both a PCR test within 72 hours and an antigen test within 48 hours. However, an antigen test is not sufficient for return to Canada.

@PP

I'm starting to think you don't know what you are talking about. "Monthly" booster shot??? Are you nuts? I'm not aware of booster shots being recommended by any country any more often than 6 to 8 months. This is another silly example of when more isn't better.

Most Canadians only received their second dose after March 2021. Canada has just started to roll out booster doses for the most vulnerable (the very elderly or immunocompromised). My wife and I are both seniors and received our second doses (Pfizer) in mid-June. So we will likely be eligible for a booster either just before or just after our trip to SXM. Either way, I'm not concerned.

You should also be aware if you are serious about coming to Canada, that the Canadian regulations currently don't care how many booster shots you may have had. They only want to know if you are fully-vaccinated. Also, an antigen test is not sufficient to enter Canada. Let's keep things accurate, please.

I wondered as much also. Some clarification would be appreciated.
