French Health Pass for visitors - tried it?

French Health Pass for visitors - tried it? - 10/25/2021 07:47 PM

Has anyone tried to apply for and/or successfully received the French Health Pass? I just applied today in advance of our 11/3 arrival. The process of applying was fairly easy - you need to upload a copy of your passport, vaccine card & airline ticket and answer some questions about where you're staying etc. I know I can just use a copy of my vaccine card plus ID, but wanted to see what would happen with the pass.

Will report back!

We applied last weekend, heard nothing yet, we travel on Nov 4th. We were vaccinated at CVS, with them you can go online and access your vaccination record, that also has a QR code on it for scanning.

My wife and I applied on Oct 5 for our 10/29 trip, no response yet. Also tried follow up messages. No response to that either frown

May have to rely on the CDC card, or Clear Vaccine passport, if they take it. (Requires the Clear app. I am a member, but don’t think you need to be to use their COVID pass system.)

If you are visiting the island, you don't need the French Health Pass it you have your vaccine card.

I just tried it to see if I would get anything back, but it seems like from the comments above that they won't really process it. Not worried or concerned as I have my vaccine card. I was just hoping of a way to avoid carrying that around along with ID. I will have copies of everything. Let me know if anyone gets approved!

Re: French Health Pass for visitors - tried it? - 10/27/2021 03:37 AM

FYI - I got my passé sanitaire today after applying 10/5 then added it to their mobile app for use on the road. My wife’s application got a request for more info, proof of travel to France (SXM air reservation being on the Dutch side was not France so sent air transfer tickets to St Barts). I understand our original CDC vax card is enough for most places, but trying to be ready for anything. Staying on St Barts for a few days before staying on French side. So who knows, rather be ready for anything.

Interesting! I probably won't get mine approved in time for our 11/3 departure then. I'm fully prepared with my vax card and ID, but thought I'd try this for sh-ts and giggles

I tried it as well, why not, I sit in front of a keyboard! It was easy peesie, they did get back to me yesterday as they wanted my ticket. So that would lead me to believe they are looking/processing with some sort of 'speed' if you will, possibly looking at the dates people are flying?? IDK..anyway, I am flying JB on Saturday 10/30 so I could not offer a ticket or my boarding pass yet. I sent them a screen shot with my name, the system ticket number and my arriving flight to SXM (all I could fit in) so we shall see, It cost nothing (but 10 min of my time) so why not!

I tried it as well. But I got back a request for additional information, however it’s in French and I haven’t had time to figure out what they want.

We are leaving 11/2 so I don’t know if I’ll get it done by then. Have a lot of other things to do.

There is a button on the top right that will flip it to English. I had to provide them additional information as well. I have to say this was VERY QUICK!

And now approved! I think KathyD242424 is right - they review and approve it when it's close to your departure date. Just did my hubby's and it went under review immediately and then was approved within a few minutes

My wifes was just denied because she is flying into the Dutch side, they told her to apply to Holland, have reapplied stating that the Dutch airport is the only way to get to the French side from the US, and Dutch Sint Maarten is not part of the EU so will not issue an EU health pass, we will see what happens

Weird, I'm flying into the Dutch side.....maybe they are getting inundated as the Dutch side site is not set up for travlers at the moment (there is info required that none of us have, like a crib #I) ! said I will be dining, shopping, clubbing and beaching it at locations with a cafe on the French side.

I think in general its a good idea. However I have heard fake USA Vax cards are easy to get and becoming more and more used. They really need to get a better system that not so easily manipulated because some will alway want to go around the law and rules however they can.

Reapplied for her this morning, got an email straight away that we had not included a travel document that showed us travelling to France, replied with the same travel document and explained again that we cannot fly to the French Side from the US and the Dutch St Maarten was not part of the EU so would not issue a health pass, the replied within the hour that she was approved. Strange but we both have it now

On the weekend and today, Nov 1, the message on the site is

This procedure has been closed, it is no longer possible to submit a file.

Maybe because today is "All Saints Day"? in France. Yesterday Halloween, Today All Saints?

Re: French Health Pass for visitors - tried it? - 11/02/2021 10:15 AM

Tried again this morning, Nov. 2, and the same message as yesterday. Also, selecting English makes no difference, still in French.
Is the process still being used?

Been where for 4 nights - never asked. Ate on French side last night , never asked. Was told if you are a visitor to the island and not EU resident just show vax card if you are actually asked. We never bothered applying. Friends who spent 10 days in Italy were asked but vax card was fine. No need to apply. And pictures on their phones were fine.

Re: French Health Pass for visitors - tried it? - 11/02/2021 12:04 PM

Agreed. We’ve had lunches and dinners on French side.

All we were asked at La Playa was the copy of proof of vax “in case” the inspector came around. Pic on phone was fine.

Last nights dinner, no question at all. If you’re outside and it’s less than 30 people it doesn’t matter.

Re: French Health Pass for visitors - tried it? - 11/11/2021 02:42 PM

Fyi in late October France discontinued the Passe Sanitaire online application for most foreigners …… they were inundated and it takes time and resources to process the applications. Yes, on SXM our Vac cards should suffice if asked. For actual travel in FRANCE foreigners (non EU since they mostly reciprocate recognition of anyEU digital pass) are being told to go to certain pharmacies and pay about E36 to convert their card proof to the french digital passe. I had noticed that Switzerland had started requiring payment for their digital Pass earlier in October and was not surprised to see another shoe drop and other countries charge too.
We spent 3 weeks driving around France in September, and had applied and received the digital Passe before our arrival. 95 % of restaurants, etc, even for OUTSIDE dining asked to see the Passe (there were always signs by the outdoor hostess stations to be ready to show your pass for scanning). Yes they always scanned the QR code which I think is for contact tracing purposes. CDC cards accepted too but they cant scan those.
We will arrive back on St Maarten on 11/26 for 8 days at SBBR. 😎

That's the question at this point--is anyone on the French side currently requiring any kind of proof of vaccination?? Or, on the Dutch side, for that matter??

Pretty much the same story for us. We've been here three weeks, and have not been asked one time - on either side of the island.

Re: French Health Pass for visitors - tried it? - 11/15/2021 12:46 PM

Does anyone know if there is a pharmacy on the French side who could /would update my valid ( until 15 Dec) Passe Sanitaire online record by adding my recently acquired Booster data? This is important because Macron announced last week that the booster is now mandatory for everyone over 65 and your Passe Sanitaire will be invalid from 15 Dec if your 2nd vac shot was about 7 months ago. We (US) no longer can apply etc online and we must go to a pharmacy in France with our VAC card to “get” a Passe Sanitaire and pay on site (?35 Euro) for that. I will be returning to France this winter and if there is a chance a pharmacy in Marigot could add my booster record while I am on the island in early December, that would be terrific so they don't kick me out after 15 December and I would not have to start from scratch and seek out a pharmacy after arrival in France in March. I don’t mind a payment - I just would like my booster info added to my record. This could be helpful information for any of you who might also be traveling to another French Caribbean island soon.

Re: French Health Pass for visitors - tried it? - 11/15/2021 06:11 PM

Pretty sure it isn’t even necessary for Americans. Just show a copy of your card. Even keeping a copy of it on your phone is sufficient or if you have CLEAR you can store it there. When I looked into the health pass I was told it was for French Nationals (if I used the term correctly). Visited the French side twice last trip and was not even asked for a thing. So for future will just keep a copy of my vax card if requested

I just re read. Looks like you may be French so it may apply to you

Re: French Health Pass for visitors - tried it? - 11/15/2021 06:45 PM

Thanks Kim
I am not French….. I am from Phily (USA). Because my husband and I were spending much of this past September in France, we did apply on line and received the “French”Digital pass - which is good in any EU country (they have a second tab you click on if displaying your digital pass /QR code outside of France, in EU or partner companies. 95 % of restaurants asked everyone at the hostess stand to show their Passe Sanitaire (scanning the QR code) even for outdoor dining. CDC card was accepted too. Public transportation, museums, etc usually asked to see your Passe or CDC etc card too.

I will be visiting France again in March with my ski club and thought I was good to go for one full year after the original 2 shots with my existing digital France pass. However, France just mandated boosters for all over 65 or they will invalidate your pass come Dec 15 ….. they also took down the option for folks outside of France to apply online for their passe. New policy says you must go in person in France to a pharmacy where they will take your US VAC card and put you in their system for the digital pass at a charge of about 35 Euro. I was just wondering …since my digital pass will be valid thru 12/15 and I am on SXM the first week of Dec, perhaps a Marigot pharmacie could add in my booster info so I wont get “eradicated” on Dec 15 and have to start all over again after arrival in France in March. I am not sure how wired into the system in France the St. Martin side is. I am the leader of the ski club group (32 people) going to France in March so I like to know all options and get details taken care of in advance when possible since there are many other things to be done once we hit the ground overseas.
I understand I will be fine while in SXM just showing my CDC card if asked.
Thank you.

This exceptionally valuable information as it is exactly why I came here.

Like medskis, we too are US citizens who were in France in the Fall and had our Pass Sanitaire on our phone. Very handy to have as it was requested just about everywhere. We plan to go back to France in 2022 but our Pass Sanitaire will expire in January and we were hoping to find a way to renew it via having our updated vaccine record confirmed at a pharmacy in St. Martin when we go there this Winter. So happy to see that can be done. I thought it probably likely but good to see confirmation.

I was also curious if the Pass Sanitaire was necessary in St. Martin to access restaurants etc or if our CDC cards will be adequate.
