A private pool or shared?

Yes, that's the rub--private pool or shared. AND whether you want to be able to use it clothing optional or not...

We love Villa Paloma. It is in the first row on the hill above Orient. Formally one of the Green cay villas. We love it for it’s private pool, spacious living area and kitchen, and proximity to Orient Village and beach. Whether or not it is good rate is up to you. Compared to other villas on the same road, we feel it is a good value.

The original poster needs to define some of their terms, including what their definition of a 'good rate' is, and whether they are talking walking distance to the beach or not. In the old days, I would have pointed them to Jim Ruos, but sadly, that is no longer an option. Rest in peace, Jim. Annekemarie (sp!!!!) at Go Beach knows all the villas and other rentals along Orient, extremely well.

Carol,

How do you contact Annekemare at Go Beach?

Thanks.

Link

As far as I know, she is the only one who works St. Martin properties at Go Beach. Actually I think she IS Go Beach.

Ok, great thanks. We're planning our next trip and as much as we love Amaury and Thibault's rentals, it's time for a change. We're looking for a villa in walking distance to Orient beach.

bluejacket--again, there are LOTS of rentals within walking distance of Orient. But if you want a PRIVATE pool, that you can sunbathe nude at, then that reduces the options greatly. It depends on what your requirements are..

You might also want to check with Island Escape. They have some additional properties that go each does not. We are in the same place as you…tired of the walk from the Mt Vernon to the beach and village.

a private pool would be nice but it doesn't have to be private. We don't need to use it nude.

We’ve had better luck finding apartments on AirBnB than VRBO. There are several 1 and 2 BR places with shared pools that are under $200 per night. The ones we’ve stayed in or considered aren’t directly on the beach, but the pool areas have a gate out to the beach road behind Kakao Beach Club.

I can recommend Princess Manon which is hosted by Gilles: https://abnb.me/Jzr8T0qnUkb

The property location is where dvesc describes. It’s between Kakao and Coco beach clubs on the north end of the beach. Great balcony overlooking Orient Bay and quiet! We were a little concerned about the parking lot and noise when we booked it but everyone clears out before dusk and it wasn’t an issue. Gilles is a wonderful host and the reason we found Orange Fever last year.

There are several places on AirBnB so you’ll have plenty of options!

It looks like you were a couple of doors down from where we stayed. Up until last year, we’d always stayed at Hotel La Plantation further from the beach. It was so much nicer to be able to just walk out the gate and be on the beach.

Re: vrbo properties - 11/04/2021 11:53 AM

Absolutely! There was a gate leading out to the beach parking at the end of our building. The pool didn’t get much use besides us. You’re only a 5 minute walk up the beach to the Village but we chose to drive to dinner given how dark the beach can be at night.

We stayed about a block off from the Village in April which gave us a few more options without getting back in the car. Pros and cons for both.

TANDP--If you don't need a private pool where you can be nude, there are tons of options of places with a private pool. Most of the places that have a private pool are in 2 story condo complexes, so that the neighbors can look down at your pool. If you will accept a shared pool, there are many, many more. There are a bunch of places in Orient Village area that have pools, shared or private. What the vast majority of them DON'T have is any view of the ocean. Princess Manon referred to above appears to be in what used to be called Caribbean Princess condos. We stayed there a long time ago. It's a little far of a walk from the square at night, but the balcony does have beautiful views. IF the bedrooms weren't on the second floor, I would probably have booked this one, one time. I've never stayed here, but always kind of wanted to check it out.. Macassi2 I'm not sure, but I think that Macassi is a bit closer to the Village. According to Annemarieke, the pool there is private enough for c/o sunbathing.

Again, if it were me, I'd take a look at gobeach and ask Annemarieke for a recommendation.
