Jumping through hoops on United

Jumping through hoops on United - 11/10/2021 04:16 PM

Wife and I are scheduled to fly out of Newark to St. Martin Friday morning. Have been pre-approved via EHAS, have purchased the travel insurance, and both of us are completely vaccinated. We’ve submitted our information to the United airlines travel-ready center and have both been denied twice. Has anyone else gone through the same nerve racking experience?

Sorry--what is the "United Airlines travel-ready center"?? Are you trying to check in?? You can't check in more than 24 hours in advance.

United sent us emails , that before boarding we had to upload our documents to their travel site. Covid vaccine card, EHAS form , and copies of passport.

Never heard of that. I would wait until 24 hours out and see if you can check in online. On AA, you can't check in online, so have to stand in line and show docs. Could be the same with United. If all else fails, just go to the airport and check in there. Just make sure you have paper copies of your EHAS form, Covid card and original passport.

New to me also and kinda interested because our flight to SXM in January is on United. From their website it looks like a testing requirements, scheduling a test, and uploading results site....no test needed for vac'ed to SXM

BTW, I changed the title of your post to include United, because most people here don't use United. Hopefully someone else who has been on United specifically will be able to give more info.

We are flying on United this Saturday and got approval from EHAS. I uploaded all info to their Travel Ready site, didn’t get response yet. It appears that their entry requirements to SXM are not updated as it still listing Covid test as a requirement even if vaccinated. So perhaps by not submitting negative Covid test you are not complying and that’s why denied. Will see what we get from them. Uploading everything to United Travel Ready site is not a requirement, it just speeds up check in process. American also has similar site.

OK, I would just ignore it then and not worry about it. Will have to check in at the airport, but on AA anyway, it doesn't matter, you still have to check in at the airport.

Yeah, if we get denied I will just ignore it as we still have to do check in at the airport anyway.

Thanks snub, kind of what I was looking for. We called United and it seems the document they for looking for was the travel insurance. Still pending , will update.

Well, that's really stupid, because you wouldn't get the EHAS approval without the insurance. I would ignore them. Don't worry about it.

People on the St Barths forum are having problems with United also. It has to do with the insurance.

The government of Sint Maarten has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 insurance for all travelers with destination Sint Maarten with the exception of Sint Maarten residents, transit passengers departing the same day (checkbox), flight crews (checkbox), transiting cruise ship crews (checkbox), French nationals residing in France or a French territory, BES-ZVK insured (checkbox) and AUC faculty and students (special procedure). The insurance purchasing process is an integrated step in the EHAS application. Travelers requiring the COVID-19 insurance must complete this process upon application. For more information on and all questions related to the COVID-19 insurance please visit www.sxmprotectionplan.com or contact customer support at info@sxmprotectionplan.com

Upon approval EHAS sends you a separate email with your insurance policy as a 4 page file with QR CODE which you can upload to United site if inclined so.

True but you shouldn't need that at all!!! You don't get EHAS approval unless you get the insurance. Stupid.

Re: Jumping through hoops on United - 11/11/2021 12:16 PM

United did the same to us, but we came down on Nov 1 and nothing had been updated.
We did test before coming down, just in case and uploaded those. It took multiple tries with EXACTLY the same info before the United Travel Ready Center Approved…very frustrating, once approved we got boarding passes and did not have to check in at the desk…went directly to the gate. Because we had “United verified” on our boarding passes, we didn’t have to have everything Rechecked at the gate. this was EWR, I cannot speak for any other airport.
We were asked in SXM for our Covid tests, and we showed they our vaccination cards and EHAS paperwork…all good.
Hope this helps.

That’s what it came down to Snuba. When you receive the visitors protection plan, there will be a pdf at the bottom of the page. Open the pdf and scroll to the insurance pass. This is the document the United travel requirements wants. After submitting this United approved both my wife and I at 7:45 last night.

When we were returning home in June I uploaded our negative test to that site and finally got an approval when we were home already. So I would just bypass it and wouldn’t worry about it.

Did you send the copy of St Maarten insurance? They kept denying us until I sent the insurance confirmation that comes via separate email after preapproval

Re: Jumping through hoops on United - 11/11/2021 05:57 PM

Husband just got his approval without me uploading insurance. Mine is in limbo because I can’t get the website to accept my passport info, I guess it’s a glitch somewhere. Will go without it
