Returning to the US on a Holiday

Returning to the US on a Holiday - 02/14/2022 07:17 PM

Hi,
I'm sure this question has been asked alot...but I would like to run it by one more time. We will be coming to SXM May 21st and leaving on Memorial Day May 30th. We will be staying in a villa above Orient village...I know most places are closed on Sunday for the 24 hour period to get tested before returning back to US. Besides the airport is there anyplace else we can get tested on Sunday the 29th? Is there anyone who would come to our villa for testing with results that day?
I'm hoping that things might change by then....but I won't bet too hard. Thanks in advance and can't wait to get back to the island!!

Why wouldn't you just use the Abbott BinaxNOW™ COVID-19 Ag Card Home Test with eMed Telehealth Services for Travel?? We have used three times now and we never leave our villa or worry about appointments are anything else. Just connect to eMed with our laptop on in 20 minutes we have our negative letter to show the airline the next day when we depart.

WVTCTE--Hopefully they have a very good internet connection at their villa, and potentially, someplace to print out results? If not, Binax Now is not a very good choice.

obgirl--Who are you renting through? Did you ask them if they have a recommendation for someone to come to the villa?? I have seen online somewhere a card for a lady that comes to people's villa, but don't remember the name. The only other option is to get a test first thing in the morning on the day you come home, but I understand why you wouldn't want to do that. I'm in the same position, returning home on a Monday in June and will probably opt for Binax Now, as Beachside Villas, where we stay, usually has a rock sold connection, and we can print out the results there. I am actually not that comfortable with doing that, but it may be my only choice.

We had a phone number written on the "welcome book" of our orient beach airbnb of a nurse who did house calls for Covid Tests, was like $50 and took a few minutes. I don't remember the number but I assume renters should have that type of information/service if needed.

Carol,
I haven’t done it yet (since we had already booked our appointment for going home) when I found out in November Beachside has someone who will come and do it right there at a reasonable fee per person.

Hi,
I would love to have someone come to the villa the day before.....even if we bring our laptops I don't imagine there is a printer in the villa. We are staying at Villa d'Este in Orient which is through Blue Ocean Villas. I am also not sure about internet connection. I will check with the company we ware renting from. I realize May is a bit away but would like to get all our ducks in a row so we don't have to worry so much....although I am sure I will be worried when it comes time for the results just before coming home.....If anyone knows of someone that will do house calls please let me know!!
Thanks much to all

Worse scenario is to get it done at PJIA.

Definitely try to contact the villa rental company. They should be able to help you.

Our flight leaves at 12:30 pm right now. How early would we have to be at the airport to get tested and get results? Will they test at the airport on a Sunday?

They test Monday to Sunday. Their hours are 11:00 to 15:00 daily, it is a rapid antigen test and costs $110. A flyer is below.

test results are pretty quick. They open at 11:00 so anytime after that would work getting tested on a Sunday for your Monday flight.

Where in the airport is the test site located?

The BinaxNow with telemed is super easy and no need to print as the results go to your NAVICA app. Just need internet connection or turn on your cell phone. If you can FaceTime you can use the service.

It's not 24 hours, but the day before; so if your flight leaves on Monday afternoon, you can easily test on Monday morning and have your results in plenty of time. I recommend Medworks on Welfare Road, in the same building as Avantika. Make an appointment online; you'll be in and out in ten minutes and have your results within an hour.

Do you need to have that certain test kit? Wil the airport/airlines (we are flying Jet Blue) accept the results on our phone or do we need a hard copy? I don't think there is a printer in our villa. If we go to the airport the day before and our flight is at 12:30 and we are one of the first ones in line to get tested at 11:00 am will that work as we would be shy of 24 hours before our flight....
Thanks so much for everyone's advice.....appreciate it!

Results on your phone are accepted.

GaKaye, where is Medworks located? We always stay on the french side so not too familiar with the Dutch side...Our flight leaves at 12:30 on Monday May 30th. What time do they open?

Re: Returning to the US on a Holiday - 02/15/2022 02:04 PM

obgirl--are you familiar with where Topper's USED to be? If so, Medwork is right across the street from there. As far as time for appointments, you can go online and make an appointment, not sure what time they open.

Hi Carol,
Thank you. No, I am not familiar where Toppers use to be....(I have to get out more....:)

Shoot, hopefully someone else can give you a better thing to look for. It's in the heart of Simpson Bay, on the main drag.

Re: Returning to the US on a Holiday - 02/15/2022 02:16 PM

Yup...across from Toppers and/or Market Garden. Office is on the ground floor...testing during the week (Monday) starts at 0800 and you can make an appointment almost two weeks in advance. Phone results should be ready in an hour or so and, assuming you are negative, this can be a flowing process on the way to the airport...

..and maybe by May the USA will drop the return testing requirement and eliminate this nagging unknown from everyone's vacay

Drive from Marigot across the new bridge, through the roundabout towards the old bridge. Shortly after the old bridge there will be a few restaurants on the left followed by Medworks with the old Toppers on the right.. Do a dry run before D-Day. Not hidden at all

Thanks again and I think we have 97 days to do!!! banana
