TOPPERS - 04/27/2022 07:50 PM

What is Topper's like since they moved? We used to enjoy the old bar and watching/singing Karaoke practically in the streets. It was fun vibe. What is it like these days since they moved? TY.

we loved the old Topper's also, we were there last month and said hey, let's go see what it's like, there were 4 of us in there, it looks like a dinner inside, we left, not an island feel at all and would never go back. I'll be very surprised if they make it there frown

We went for breakfast a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday and were the only 2 people there. Needless to say the service was excellent and our waitress was upbeat and friendly. We found the prices were a little on the high side. As you can see from the pictures it is not the same vibe as his previous location and a picture of the lagoon from our table.

Looks like a nice traditional breakfast. Bet it was good.

It's definitely nicer than the old location. Still had karaoke the last time I was there. Just depends on what you like and prefer.

I was never a big fan of him. But his food was good and there was something about eating in that hot steamy atmosphere that made it all come together! Thanks for checking it out for us, Breakfast looks good. We'll stick with SMYC for breakfast!! BTW it was really nice to meet you and Mrs. Whale tail at Beachside Villa's! Hope to see you in October-Nov!!

Completely agree with you on SMYC for breakfast, it's our first full day breakfast spot. It's like the vacation has officially started once we show up there for breakfast. We had 7 breakfast there on our last trip. Reveil Matin has become a must do for breakfast on this trip. Thank you for showing us your villa at BSV and are convinced we must experience staying there and sorry we didn't get a chance to meet your wife Fabila. We have yet to book our next visit to SXM and typically go Feb Mar Apr time frame but I've noticed a few on this forum seem to like Oct/Nov (isn't the weather an issue then?) but now that Mrs Whale Tail has retired all 12 months are available. What time frame are you looking at for Oct/Nov?

Went there many times in the past, this Feb. once was enough, food was good, but service was slow because waitress had to take all the orders and mixed most of the drinks. Along with that the noise level made hard to converse.

Yes. Not the best acoustics.

We are always there for Halloween. The weather has not been an issue in late Oct early November other than more humid of course than in the Spring. Some rain but mostly late night or early morning nothing that frequently would impact our day plans.

Sorry we didn’t get to meet.

That was a wonderful surprise to meet you guys on the beach at BSV!! Small world!!! It was my pleasure to show you and Mrs. Whale Tail our unit! It's old world Caribbean with modern touches!! As I say all the time: "You will want for nothing" the staff is amazing!! There is laundry service for a small fee, as I'm told it is more than worth it!! We cut back on what to wear and bring laundry packets for the little stuff! As "Fabila" stated we love the Halloween parties, but seems that those fizzed out last year. We'll keep checking on who is hosting a party and figure out for costumes. Hope to see you guys then, late Oct into Nov!

Re: TOPPERS - 05/03/2022 05:44 AM

We were there are last week one night last month. It was very quiet, and only a couple of singers. Was disappointed for the first time ever at Topper's, that we both thought the food wasn't nearly as good as it was for years at the old location. Just didn't have the ''vibe'' it had at the other location. The galato part was also a disaapoinment, with probably less than half of the old carousel days, flavor wise. His push in the new location seems to be more interested in his Rhum products and souveniers. Wouldn't be surprised to see the restaurant part closed up eventually, and the bar, entertainment, distillery, and souvenier shop remaining.

Thanks for the reply. I'm getting the same feeling. Doesn't seem like the same vibe. It was fun sitting outside with the crowd at the old location. Going in a few months. Sadly checking this one off the list.

Re: TOPPERS - 05/05/2022 09:58 AM

My question is: Is Topper reading any of these comments and what will he do???? Let the restaurant go, push the rhum? Keep the bar??? Forget the food? OR totally shake everything up??? In any event, I'm in no rush to find out!

I think the P&L statement will be the deciding factor.
