Sapphire - 05/03/2022 08:29 PM

Was looking for any updated information on the condition of Sapphire as a timeshare unit. We have an opportunity to stay there for two weeks. I know it had a reputable for being rundown. Is this still true.? Thoughts please.

We stopped there about a month ago because many years ago we owned several units there, all I can say is STAY AWAY from it and don't even consider staying there, it's such a shame, many years ago it was a great place.

I haven't heard many good things about it for quite awhile.

Thank you. we, too, owned there for over 20 years and watched it go down hill. I was hoping that it might have changed to the better.

I still stop in and see the day time bartender, Ramona, at Sapphire. She always updates us on island news and reasonable drink prices too. The last time there -- Sam -- remember him as bartender there -- was visiting. There was a couple selling jewelry by the front desk, but very few takers. I like simpler jewelry and he helped me find two pair of earrings -- $5 each. That was the extent of my jewelry purchases last visit there.

My wife and I have stayed at Sapphire 3-4 weeks per year for the last 3 years. We are timeshare owners and have been for over 10 years. And we are very satisfied with the facility and the progress that has been made since Irma. If you are looking for a 4 or 5 star place to stay, Sapphire is not the place for you. However if you are looking for a decent place to stay that is reasonably cared for and maintained and that has a very friendly, helpful staff, Sapphire will work. The pool area and the bar are really nice with very good prices at the bar. We also like Sapphire's proximity to Porto Cupecoy, University Village and the Maho area for ease accessing very good restaurants.
So this is our first hand knowledge of the situation at Sapphire. We are there February/March of each year and were there a couple of months ago for 3 weeks.

We stayed last year for two weeks. Yes the place is older, they did provide maid service everyday and our unit was clean. Was fine with us.

We were talking with peeps staying there last week and they said it was greatly improved. Not perfect but they were enjoying their time there.

Sometimes people hope for the Ritz while staying at Motel Six. We owned at the Towers before it went under and I remember a grumpy conversation with a guest (an exchange guest as opposed to an owner there…..) and she complained about virtually everything; no room service; no restaurant on site; the bed linens weren’t to her expectations; the carpark area and the pool were long walks……..

There are some who will never be satisfied. Me? Clean, comfortable and with amenities that live up to their promises is about all it takes to make me happy. (Thankfully, we found a place that is all that many times over……!) From the discussion we had with the Sapphire guests last week it sounded to me like the Sapphire did just that.

We are currently at Sapphire now wrapping up a two week stay. Have been owners for over 20 years. Our stay has been very enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Maid service every day. We have no problem staying here and recommend it to our friends.
