La Belle Creole - the exterior

La Belle Creole - the exterior - 07/05/2022 09:18 AM

This place invokes a lot of emotions while on the property and certainly isn’t for the feint of heart. I kind of lost my bearings as to where I was on the property many times…especially when touring the interior of some of the buildings. I wouldn’t go there alone. We went with a local couple and my head was on a swivel the entire time. Some of the exterior photos look very similar but there’s something new to see in each one. There’s signs of squatters in there but we didn’t see anyone. I concentrated more on video that I’ll edit and post with a outside link down the road.
I tried to get down to the 15 photo maximum for a TTOL post but just couldn’t do it.

It must have been a wonderful resort back in the day. So sad that no one ever resurrected it.

It didn’t have a very long life time as I can remember always in financial trouble never reopened after the last attempt to rebuild, people were owed money and ended up taking property out of the place . They did have a reopening my sister-in-law law was a travel agent who had complementary 4 day stay to see the place after she left about a month later the place closed everything was looted that’s my memory of the place. We stayed at the ST Tropez in 1985 and you cold see the tower at La Belle Creole from the St Tropez is now a resident building across from the Cadesco gas on the way to Marigot.
There is a video of La Belle Creole done maybe 6 yeas ago.
The video is on Youtbue.

Ollie--thanks so much for posting. I for one am glad that I never saw it when it was open. So heartbreaking..

I lived there from 1988 to 1991. It was managed by Conrad Hotels, a part of Hilton USA. It was sold just before Hurricane Luis in 1995 and has not reopened since the storm.

Neil--I'm sure those pictures must be awful for you, although obviously not the first you've seen.

Thank you Mr. Rooney.

You answered my question from the parallel thread.

I notice that you don't jump in here very often, but great when you do.....since you know!
