Le Mediteraneen

Le Mediteraneen - 08/29/2022 11:57 AM

Relatively new to Cupecoy is Le Mediteraneen, a casual middle eastern restaurant, the first restaurant on the left of Porto Cupecoy next to Mama Pizza
Our original choice was Cambucci but found out after sitting down they were cash only and eating there would not leave enough money for the casino

we had viewed the menu a few days earlier and were ready for a change of food
they do have a $26 prix-fix but we decided to go ala carte
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating but it was a beautiful low humid night and we sat under a large banana umbrella in the courtyard

we selected the 3 meze combination and an order of kibbeh
our selections of meze included humus, baba ganoush and moussaka
all were very good

needing a meat fix, a bubbling lamb shank tangine needed some time to cool down before i could enjoy it
a nice size portion was delicious

my wife enjoyed the mixed grill kabob platter with chicken, a spicy sausage and a beef / lamb combination

service was attentive and friendly

we wrapped up our leftovers and enjoyed some complimentary rum shots and complimentary petite pastries

a good choice for a casual meal with a change of menu choices

service was included and the bill was just about $100 including a bottle of water and 3 drinks

Thanks for the report. What type of food do they serve at Cambucci, that it is cash only?

I think this is the first time you posted a picture of your lovely wife.

Does the casino in Cupecoy have blackjack and roulette?

while she loves to take pictures and selfies, she sometimes shys away when I try to sneak her into the picture
I think I love her as much as I love food
She is a great dinning partner with a wealth of knowledge from all our meals
We could become a food critic team as she is a USA Today best selling author with 29 books published

I would say it is definitely upscale and will doing a report some day this week as we will be returning to have dinner there

Although there as black jacks tables there, they are not open and covered with plastic wrap

Mahokid - What kind of books does your wife write? 29 books published is impressive!!

The restaurant is owned by the same folks who own both Mama Pizza Restaurants. Looking forward to going, a very unique place and menu. They know what they are doing.

Pretty sure they are open for lunch as they were open this past Sunday when we went to Rendezvous brunch

Linda, thank you for recommending Balls & Wine

She writes romance and I am not her inspiration

In one of her books (Love Notes Series,) she quickly mentioned that they honeymooned in SXM
Her writing name is Renee Lee Fisher, her website is reneeleefisher.com

In all honesty, I live a pretty busy life and do not read too much but I have read four of her books which I did enjoy.

I enjoyed the Love Notes series as it was about music, we love smooth jazz (over 10 cruises) and she used names of some of our friend musicians on the cruise

Derailed is a suspense romance taking place in New Jersey shore town, when writing my wife asked for a town name and I recommended the hometown of a sax player and it got published (i got no credit)

Mahokid - Do you go on the smooth jazz cruises sponsored by TheJazzCruise.com, formerly Entertainment Cruise Productions? I have been going on their mainstream jazz cruises since the beginning.

Linda,

yes although Michael's mom started earlier with the "real' jazz cruise, we started the second year of the smooth jazz cruises.

Michael Lazoroff was not in charge off the ship and there were some problems although the music was great
The next year he got rid of the bad partner and promised to fix all the mistakes
We followed along for about 10 years until my business grew that I just can't enjoy them anymore
when we stopped going I thought they were almost perfectly ran and there's a lot of moving pieces beside the ship
I know a couple of the smooth jazz musicians also play on your cruise (Eric Marienthal, Marcus Miller)

Re: Le Mediteraneen - 08/31/2022 06:58 AM

Yes, I actually started going before Anita went out on her own. When I started going, four travel agencies (one was in the UK) were going together but weren't buying out all the ship yet. Anita took a big risk, but it certainly has paid off. This year I'm doing two weeks back to back: the "real" jazz cruise followed by Blue Note at Sea. I've done that once before and enjoyed only about half of the Blue Note cruise music. But I was still on a cruise. smile The Blue Note cruise stops in SXM this year, and I'm looking forward to that.
