Officials say that the Marina will bounce back - 10/31/2022 01:16 PM
LinkWish I could say that I am similarly confident. The marina has been in bad shape for a while, all of Marigot, in fact.

The new decking around the marina makes it so much nicer.

It would be great to have the Marina return to the charming place it used to be! Used to love dinners there when the restaurants were all busy, people were walking by to check menus and the street performers would sometimes stop to entertain. It was ways hard to decide where to eat, because there were several good choices,

Just getting the Marina in shape is only part of it. Safety at night is my concern.

Yes, for sure. They need more security at night to get rid of the undesireables.

That picture must have been taken far before Irma as It hasn't looked that good for years.

Removing the tons of rubbish from the bottom of the former marina is a real good start, as is the replacement of the decking on the perimeter. My wife actually went through the rotten old plywood this spring. Luckily she responded nimbly and was only slightly scratched.
The first night we ever spent in St. Martin in 2004 we found the marina and had dinner there. I thought it was magic. My heart breaks a little bit every time we dinghy into there or walk through.

...24 July 2002 at 12:39pm to be precise - with a Canon camera. At least that is the story from the metadata. It doesn't include what you had to eat that day though
Dave.

Man I am really getting old, that 2002 is 20 years ago, and it seems like yesterday!!
Ritchard--glad that your wife was not injured in the fall. It definitely sounds like the decking was long overdue.

That decking was pretty sketchy before Irma.
