Club O Beach Portapotties

Club O Beach Portapotties - 02/15/2023 01:06 PM

We would gladly pay an extra $5 for our chairs to underwrite the cost of portapotties. Perhaps that could be coupled with an honor system cash drop box for non-chair renters. How about it Cedrick?

MXS-while I flatter myself and think everyone in the world must read TTOL, I doubt that Cedrick reads here, except once in a very great while. I believe he has a Facebook page that you could post that suggestion to him. I think if it were to happen, it would have to be a paying situation for the bathroom, like they used to have at Pedro's. Otherwise, 90% of people would not pay. And many people would object to increasing the price of the chairs.

this topic begs the question---where do the proceeds from the chair rentals and the Perch end up? sufficient capital is generated to support an acceptable facility--by all appearances.

I counted 35 sets of chairs in the front row yesterday, double that for the 2nd row and add 20 or so in the 3rd and 4th rows throw in 7 individuals and you have 117 sets of chairs and umbrellas at $25 bucks a pair = $2900 + or - a day. x 7 = $20K a week, surely someone can afford to rent 2 porta-potties without having to charge an extra $5.00 to support that cause.

I hope Cedrick is getting rich doing what he does. He is an entrepreneur who saw a business opportunity and embraced it. He keeps the beach clean and orderly, and I would guess he pays his help well as I see the same guys working for him every year. We are not wealthy and the cost of our flights, lodging, and meals stretches us. But this beach is one of the main reasons we come to St. Martin. We are glad to rent our chairs from Cedrick and would gladly pay a bit more for improved potty facilities. Blessings on you, Cedrick (if you ever read this).

After what those people have been through, and are still going through, I can't believe people who can afford to vacation in St Martin are complaining about the toilet facilities. I agree they are quite spartan, but. Cedric pulled a rabbit of a hat to have it functioning at all. You can always go to a resort where all of that is provided in luxury, or to one of the beaches with no facilities, food or drink. Club O was a paradise with all it provided but those days are gone. We still love it, and although we go back to our hotel for anything other than a tinkle, its still great.

For sure a LOT of money is being made now as the beach is packed. Keep in mind those chairs and Umbrellas don't come cheap to replace. They do need to upgrade the bathroom situation. I don't see the generator any more so they must have electricity now. Serving food and drink they really need a proper bathroom facilities. I can't imagine it would be that hard or costly to block up some bathrooms....it's sand so a septic tank would be easy or hook up to the old one. The French are so strict with their requirements I am surprised it's allowed. For that many people it really needs to be a priority and something needed before you can do any business.

lucca--the money goes to Cedrick and he is to be commended for keeping the beach clothing optional. Right now is high season. The occupancy rate on the beach now is several times what it is in the slow months, at which time, his cost is basically the same.

i think we are all in agreement that Cedrick is to be commended on keeping Orient as close as possible to what it was----kudoes------------but i did similar math as above --on our last visit ---and there appears to be infrastructure money available-----another query?---running water in kitchen ?behind the bar ??----hope so ---hands need washing --regularly --handling food and drink -----------not a luxury requirement ---a necessary sanitation one . just my opinion .

I have no idea if they have running water in the kitchen and bar or not. Although I believe that the Perch is technically a whole separate operation than the chair operation.

The toilet facilities, or lack thereof, at the Club Orient beach, should be the responsibility of the Perch, not Cedrick. As from the internet, "If you provide any seating for people to eat and drink at your premises you must provide public toilets and hand washing facilities for those people to use."

Was there yesterday and the line up to use the facilities was pretty long...5 or 6 people waiting, one gentleman went passed the line up and around the large shipping containers to the back and did his business in the corner instead of waiting, this is what it has come to.
