All In Price for Car Rental? - 06/25/2023 10:41 PM

Hello, What is the "all in" price for a compact car rental for a few days, including taxes delivery fee to hotel, full insurance coverage, and anything else? Thanks!

Too many variables in your question to give an answer but personally speaking, the price I pay is between me and my car company and I would NEVER divulge that info.

Best suggestion is to email a few agencies and ask them but provide specific dates, etc.

As Pat said, too many variables there. As far as 'delivery fee to hotel', very few people here get their car delivered to the hotel. Not sure why you would want to do that. You have to pay a taxi to get to the hotel and then also pay to get your car delivered.

Suggest you just send an email to several car rental companies and ask them for an 'all in' quote and go from there.

We all have "our guy" , for me it's about service and great rates. Give Sax Rental a call. Cindy and her husband are wonderful people to do business with. You'll be very happy!! https://www.saxcarrental.com/

I rented from Hertz this past week and a half. Pleased. I always add the insurance. Saw a motorcylist nearly get creamed, but this is not new ! I filled out a survey questionnaire at the airport yesterday, quite detailed and constructive questions. One was what do you dislike the most...i said traffic and cyclists...

I never saw a survey to take at the Airport. That would have been my dislike too. As for Hertz I have my CC cover the collision as liability is provided at Hertz in the quote.

I was asked to answer survey questions when I left last December. A young woman was walking around asking folks if they would participate.

Interesting. No one approached us either.

HI, if staying in Orient, we always take a cab - Wilfred Brooks - to our unit. Wait a few days and then have a car delivered. If staying three weeks, don't need a car the entire time. We have Shop n Drop to stock the fridge and enough choices in the Village for several days.
We like not worrying about car pick up and return. We also have a driver take us to the airport and back home on the return flight Just want easy days coming and going.

Works for us

Suggesting that there are variables that make rates a secret ?? Surprised at your cagey answer Pat, you are usually so open!

Re: All In Price for Car Rental? - 07/03/2023 06:48 PM

Vivian,

I’m not trying to be ‘cagey’ and I I’m generally pretty open about my business but somebody else’s ? Not so much.

I do know that I’ve rented from Lesley for at least ten to fifteen years, as a rule at least twice a year, often times for two weeks or more at a clip, and a few times more than that. IF he or any other business gives a preferred rate to long term and/or frequent clients that should be between him and the customer,

Variables might include frequency of rentals, time of year renting, type and condition of car requested, duration of rental and the list goes on. And then there’s the fact we’ve become friends over the years. Lesley and Shirley are good people and I’ve known him since the mid 80s so I respect that confidentiality.

I believe firmly in discretion and would hope most would feel the same way.

To the OP, if you want to get a sense of an all-in price in less than a minute you can try the Discount Car Rental St Martin website, where you can put in your dates and what kind of car you want. We rented from them last time and they were great. Claude met us at the airport and took us to his office in Nettle Bay where we picked up the car, and when we returned it we met them right at the airport which was very convenient.

Guess I've quite a bit of research still pending! Rent car for entire 2 weeks, call Wilfred and hope he's available then rent only portion of time? After struggling with securing accommodations and airline...this is so much time, notes, back/forth! I will say, having our own transportation whenever we get the urge to do something is most convenient, even though there may be days we just chillax right where we are (BSV!)!

Just rented from Kennys Car Rental for September. We have rented from Lesley and Shirley for 25 plus years...3 or 4 times a year. We have NEVER been disappointed. Reliable, dependable, and definitely FAMILY.

When you choose any business multiple times and are pleased with the service you received, that business often will offer an incentive to continue the relationship and trust you've created. That incentive may be a discount that understandably is not available to first time users. Loyalty deserves to be rewarded. Thanks, Pat.

To us, it’s not just a matter of renting a car, it’s doing so from someone you have come to know, trust, and rely on over the years. For us, that will always be Lesley (Kenny’s car rental). Good people, good cars, good service.

That being said, it’s not as simple as an ‘all-in’ price because there are so many variables. We much prefar the promptness and convenience of picking up and dropping off our car at the airport. YMMV. The suggestion to email several places was a good one.

Lesley,

One hundred percent on love my job and business, that is why you are so highly recommended

I know in my business we get a lot of quick bookings after meeting our client because they can see that we care and don't make making money the most important thing

Re: All In Price for Car Rental? - 08/24/2023 01:07 PM

Thanks but a lot of people will look at e.g a $ 25.00 difference and make a fuss but for the restaurants is a different issue lol.

PS: Response to Mahokid posting.

Agree with Pat and Icote. It's always been Lesley for us. We haven't found a kinder more considerate , understanding person than he. As long as we can we'll always rent from him. We equate his greeting upon our arrival as having arrived in paradise.

Re: All In Price for Car Rental? - 08/28/2023 12:59 PM

Frankly, not having to ride in a bus to another location is worth a LOT to us. Being able to walk to "my" car for the two weeks and leave right from the airport to "my" home for the two weeks is worth it to me.

I remember the first year we were in SXM, we made the mistake of renting at Paradise car rental. As luck would have it, we had a run in with a wheelbarrow which scratched the bumper of the car. When we brought the car back to the rental agent, they told us that they would have to replace the bumper and the scratch would cost us over $1000 to fix. And oh by the way, the number $1000 was determined by the rental return agent.
Now, how many of you think that they actually replaced that bumper for a scratch? After seeing other car rentals in SXM, I think it is pretty safe to say they didn't.
We fought it through the credit card company and wound up splitting the difference. Live and learn.

I would never have to worry about something like this happening with Lesley. He and Shirley are fair people.

Re: All In Price for Car Rental? - 08/28/2023 01:38 PM

Nah that wasn't good and not factual period , i.e the repair cost .

Re: All In Price for Car Rental? - 08/28/2023 03:37 PM

We also had 2 claims with Paradise rentals, but they provided me with invoices for the repairs as I needed these to facilitate the claim with the credit card insurance company. I didn't contest the charges as one was for $250 and the other $175, which the insurance paid promptly.
