A visit to Kazanu

A visit to Kazanu - 07/06/2023 03:06 PM

While we were on a recent trip to SXM in June, 2023, we took the opportunity to visit Kazanu, a naturist resort in Oyster Pond and meet it’s new owner, Tim Roosens.

The property previously operated for some 25 years as a naturist resort, as Caribbean Nature and Naturissimo. For those familiar with Oyster Pond, the location is very close to to L’Oasis, and Mama Pizza is a short drive. The website is HERE. The vibe of the place is totally low key, and naturist. All units are fully air conditioned, have wi-fi and TV.

The shining star of the property is the “La Vu” room. The furniture and furnishings in this room rival or exceed many private villas.

This room has a full kitchen, including a dishwasher, stove, fridge with icemaker, etc., and a washer.

There is a separate bedroom with king sized bed in this unit on the 1st floor.

The master bath is lovely.

The living room is beautiful and comfortable. The loft has a single bed in it.

[Linked Image]

There is a huge porch, with a couch and chairs and table

With an amazing view out toward Orient.

This unit is on the same level as the parking area, for those with difficulties walking.

Other than the La Vu room, the other units are smaller and more economical. Also on the same level as the parking area, is the Oseyan studio.

This room also has a king sized bed and has a smaller outside porch, with part of the porch having a view similar to the La Vu room.

Currently, the property consists of 5 units and a pool, with two more units to be completed in the near future. Tim and his sister Anke have made several improvements to the property since acquiring it. There is now parking inside the gated resort, plus several other improvements, including a new stairway from the upper units to the lower units.

[Linked Image]

There are a total of maybe 10 stairs going down from the upper level to the lower level. The three rooms by the pool each are the same, with a queen sized bed, kitchenette and small outside patio,

They all walk straight out to the pool, which features loungers and umbrellas. Sorry, I didn't get any pictures of the pool itself, but there are some on the webpage. Eventually there will be a gazebo by the pool, with a BBQ grill, for all to use.

Two sets of towels and sheets provided and are changed out once a week by the room service and more frequently if people desire, for an additional fee. There is also a laundry room available for guest to use by the parking lot, with one free wash a week, extras for a minimal fee. There is also a book lending library. Internet TV is provided, with RUKU Netflix Youtube apple tv etc. Plugs are french side plugs, but a couple of adapters are provided in each room.

Kazanu has become a TTOL sponsor, so if you check it out, or book there, please let Tim know you read about it here.

Oyster Pond is pretty quiet, a more residential place. A change from Simpson Bay, etc.

Very nice pictures and write up. We stayed in the Oseyan studio many years ago. The views were fantastic and the pool was very nice.

I wonder if there will be an owner or manager living on the property?

Tim--we had hopes for this fall, but due to airfare, I don't think it will happen, unforunately. Say hi to Ludi for us!

Best wishes to you and your sister, and we look forward to staying at Kazanu in the future.

Has anyone had any recent experience here? We are considering.

MXS--We didn't stay there, but only toured it. I would be happy to try to answer any specific questions you may have.

Re: A visit to Kazanu - 10/18/2023 09:38 PM

Our main concern is the roll of the dice as to who else will be renting other units at the same time. Will they have a relaxing, vacation mindset, or will they be party people? No way to know ahead of time. On Orient Beach we can set up away from the party and enjoy ourselves. We would not be able to do so at a resort with a shared pool. We are friendly, outgoing people, but we will be there to relax, read, and vacation. It looks like a great little resort. We are just wondering what others have experienced while staying there.

I wouldn't think there would be a way of second guessing if others that are staying there too would be party people or layed back people. Luck of the draw. Age wouldn't mater much.

MXS--Based on our conversations with the owner, they definitely do NOT encourage anyone to view Kazanu as a "party place", not at all.

We always loved the Oyster Pond area, Dawn beach was always one of our favorite beaches and of course Ms. Bee's had IMO the best ribs on the island. With good places to drink and dine there. It was a gem! I hope this brings more people to back this lovely area, and restore it to its glory days! Shuttle service might be an idea for the future to Orient beach that is posted on the website "A short 15 minute drive" ??? Lot's of luck!!!

Will they have a relaxing, vacation mindset, or will they be party people? No way to know ahead of time.

I stayed there last year (as a single), and there was one other couple staying there as well. We never really crossed paths, as we were both in-and-out at different times.

Regardless, there isn't a "party vibe" at Kazanu. There's no bar, no restaurant, no music playing at the pool. Also, Tim would not allow it. If things got too loud or crazy, I'm confident he would intervene.

We checked it out last week during a cruise ship stop. We were impressed! Tim graciously showed us around and made us feel welcome. We did not take pictures as we could not have done better than Carol did during her visit. We are making plans to spend a week sometime next year. We urge everyone to check it out and consider staying some time. We would love to see this wonderful little resort prosper.

Hi, sorry about joining this conversation so late again,...I have to get better at checking this site more often,...

I have just up loaded some recent pictures of some upgrades on the Nude resort page of this site,...

Also to confirm yes we are more a relaxed quiet kind of stay , our focus also lays more with people who like to stay for longer periods and just want to enjoy the peace.
The advantage is that we live on property so we are never very far away if we had to intervene with any disturbing behavior,...
And as a reminder even though sex is lovely we believe you should reserve any sexual acts for the intimacy of your room. We are not at all Lifestyle friendly or Swingers oriented resort so we would def intervene or expel those who think it is ok to step over the privacy line.

MXS, thank you for stopping by last week, it was a pleasure to meet you and your wife, I have not been able to fix my email issues yet but you sure can also send me a whatapp or iMessage on +590690307999 or send me Facebook messenger
