United is no longer on my fav list. We had a 10 day trip to Alsace France planned in July and had a connector PVD-EWR then direct to Zurich....well....two days in a row (five out of six) they cancelled our connector and eventually the whole flight (for us...the ZRH flight went as scheduled). Lost the apartment rental cost and a decent amount of the car rental fee. Flight cost was refunded. Not a weather issue but an ATC issue with United having Waaay too many flights at EWR.

Soooo...no more connecting flights with United for me....nothing to do with a boarding issue since we never got that far

United screwed us a ton of different ways flying home from SXM. They stranded us in Newark and then said it would be 2-3 days before they could get us home (to Boston).
we got a flight on Jet Blue the next day. But United wouldn't refund the first class fare from Newark to Boston.
They would only pay for food in the airport. So, not ever flying United again!

Speaking to the actual post, this kind of makes sense to me. Of course, I always thought that they should board the REAR of the plane first.

Silly me, trying to connect anything with airplane travel, with logic.

When we flew within China, there was no boarding organization at all; everyone just crowded the gate at once. Surprisingly, it didn't seem to take any longer to board than boarding by zones.

It’s not about efficient boarding on any airline. It’s about how much the airline can extort out of you in order for you to get earlier boarding.

I don't think that has anything to do with the new policy. Just depends on the seats you book. Windows fist then middle then isles. Does make sense to me.

WILMA, cute name, but didn't someone else try this. You know people try to bum rush to get to there seat and claim the overhead compartment to themselves!! You're right Carol, why board the front as it always bottlenecks up!! And then there is always someone trying to stuff an oversized bag in the overhead and it just won't go! Airline logic???LOL!!!
