DAY 7 SATURDAY

Posted By: ruralcarrier

DAY 7 SATURDAY - 03/17/2024 10:46 AM

A pretty quiet start. Breakfast with Kareen at Reveil Martin, very good and a lot of food. I had a French toast with apples, blueberries, caramel and syrup. No more sweets for a while. The others in the group had breakfast at SMYC.

A quick trip to Maho and then got more gas in the car and lounged around here in the afternoon.

Happy hour at Lee's and then off for a sunset cruise on Lambada. While I prefer being on the Tango the option and timing of the Lambada cruise worked better for us. Due to Charlie's knee and Jill's leg, I decided to call Aqua Mania to see if they could accommodate us on parking as there is little to no parking in the area and the casino would not yet be doing valet. The young lady (Donica) I spoke with was very nice and understanding and instructed me on what to do to park at Simpson Bay Resort. The guy running the gate said he never got the message (we confirmed and reconfirmed just prior to arrival) but after a little discussion (he was not a pleasant person) he let us in. Once there I checked with Donica and she assured me she had called the person manning the gate and was perplexed as to why he was unaware.

The parking and being able to not have to navigate the steps helped us out a lot and as we were walking through SBR, we met Mr. & Mrs. Whale Tail (Gary and Bernie) again.

Gary and Connie from MI joined us on the cruise. Nice weather and they are now including a large fruit tray, an assortment of chips and a bread and cheese tray on the cruises. The crew did a good job and it seemed like we went a little farther than in the past and stayed out longer. It was a good time.

Pizza and some salads at Isola were the dinner choices. I know Isola is not the same as when Marco ran it but they still put out a very good pizza. The only negative I can say was they were out of 2-3 of the wines we tried to order and the olive oil for the bread or pizza was just plain olive oil. No seasonings in it at all but we all enjoyed our food.

On a side note. The area in Ohio where I live and near where Carol Hill is from and still has family had some devastating tornadoes the other night. I saw Winchester IN on CNN the other night, devastating damage. I live about an hour away and while we had no major damage, severe storms had people taking cover and our younger dog got pretty shook up. An EF 2 tornado was on the ground about 15 minutes from our house. 3 deaths the last I saw and some communities and campgrounds around a popular lake were wiped out. Some of the drone shots I saw were unbelievable. My thoughts and prayers go out to the impacted by this.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like some nice additions to the sunset cruise. What's the cost for it now?

Our thoughts are with those in Indiana and Ohio also. With all our hurricanes around here, we sometimes forget about the tornadoes in the Midwest. The high school where I went to high school was destroyed several years ago, and this one took out the Walmart in Winchester, which was kind of the only grocery store in that area. At least they will have ample funds to repair it, unlike a lot of the regular people in that area, many of whom are farmers and just scraping by before the storm.

It was $45 each. Tango is a little more as they do a prosecco themed cruise.

Yes, devasting damage in several areas.

JD,
Sorry about the unfortunate weather at home. I heard the news and wondered about Ronalee and the girls so Ty for the update. Glad they are okay and hoping for no more disasters for the area and it’s people.

Thankfully the tornado didn’t do you any damage.

Ah, I would love that Tango one! It's more fun when it's more than one couple though, so doubt we would do it by ourselves.

I was hoping and would have preferred it but I am running out of days. I have only seen them out 1 time so far and that was yesterday afternoon.

So far. Delta has actually emailed me two times and left 2 voice mails as well about it. Apologized for the rudeness and inconsideration of the other passenger.

That's good that Delta at least apologized, even though the lady didn't.
