1st time to Grand Cayman - Need Info - 08/03/2011 05:22 PM
What is the weather like in December. Hoping for 80's.
Need some rental car advise and are there any nice grocery
stores. Planning on staying in the 7 mile beach area.
Any info appreciated.

Weather is generally nice, temps around mid 70's. Gets a little cool at night. I rent at Andy's. Its cheap, the cars are generally kinda ugly but the people are great and Ive never had a car problem. There is a Fosters grocery store that has a big selection right on West Bay Road which runs along SMB. You can get beer/wine across the street if you need to as well.

We went one time during January and the days were in the low 80's. Nights were cooler but only needed a light shawl or sweater.
I've used Andy's but have gotten good rental rates online from both Hertz and Avis.

We've stayed on the sister island Cayman Brac for a month during January 4 times and the average daytime highs are mid 80's and lows in the low 70's. Go here for monthly averages:

SandyC: Yea, Im sure. My wife and I have been going to GC in December for 10 years. Obviously temps vary year to year (and I dont go out of my way to see what temp it really is) but mid 70's with a stiff breeze is a pretty good guess at night. Will you need a sweater? Who knows, but we like one, especially if we are laying out in a hammock at night.
