Trip report 3-.Santorini - 09/18/2014 12:05 AM

SANTORINI

The earliest ferry to Santorini is 10:30, so although a nice leisurely start I want to get there quickly to soak it all in....per usual I can not rest or sleep like the other snoring masses so I mostly hang out on the outside deck in amazement of my surroundings.....then I see it and it is indeed magical. We enter the caldera with all it's grandeur. Again wow wow wow....

Off we go to Imerovigli, Merovigla studios is a perfect perfect place. we have an incredible apartment with two balconies and view of the caldera and the other side. I had no idea this island was so narrow so as to see both water views at the same time. SOOO neat. our hosts Kathrina and Alexander were superb. The cute little pool topped off this gorgeous property with its grape vine laden terraces and blooming trees abound.

I can't believe I get to spend two days in this marvellous place. chilled poolside with lots of Mythos and made some new friends, Greek vacationers who gave us some suggestions of where to go watch sunset and where to have dinner. Can't beat those recommendations I say. when in Greece eat where the Greeks eat is a great Moto .

The sunset over the caldera was spectacular as expected. Early to bed after lots of merry making, eating and drinking ....oh dear...

Up to watch the sunrise over the caldera from our wrap around balcony .,Am I really here? gorgeous does not begin to capture this moment.

Oia is definitely geared to tourists with lots of shopping. Unbelievable scenery and really felt like I was in a mamma Mia movie.

Taxi ride back to relax poolside for a bit then out to Fira the main town in amazing Santorini for an explore . Incredible ambience and really cool shopping. Even had a live fish pedicure...freaky but just had to do it!!

Another unbelievable sunset followed by grand applause, then dinner at a great spot called salt and pepper as recommended by our Greek poolside friends. awesome and best food so far.

Santorini has lived up to its expectations and should be experienced by everyone at least once. flying back to Athens in the morning then to Poros to start another wild adventure on our sail flotilla.

It is a cannon powershot D20.
Compact, point and shoot, waterproof and shockproof. I love it

Kim, you really did capture the magic of Santorini and its caldera with those pictures! Thanks for sharing and brining back good memories!

Can't wait to see and hear your impressions of Poros. Made many stops there as a young and care free charter skipper ... remembering those stern to shore mooring exercises! On one charter, I made the mistake of mooring bow to shore; most of the crew made it to the quay, except for one woman who spent quite a few minutes hanging upside down from the bow, much to the delight of the yachts next to us and onlookers. She did deserve it as she refused the entire week to participate in crew tasks, thinking she had booked a all-inclusive cruise. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
