Planning Trip to Aruba - 01/10/2015 05:49 PM

Having only visited by cruise ship, planning a island vacation for a week. Which is better to stay at Palm Beach or Eagle Beach area? Are the waves about the same at either location?

JMHO...To me the water is about the same but Palm Beach is where all the high rises are and must admit that is where we have stayed 2 out of three times. I prefer it as you can walk to more things such as restaurants, shopping, bars. But Eagle is nice. Haven't stayed there only beached it. We stayed first time at Divi in low rise area. Nice but not close to anything at that time. More happening up in high rise area. What properties are you looking at?

We spent our honeymoon--aeons ago!! --at Manchebo Beach Resort on Eagle Beach. We have returned a few times since then, so we're quite partial to it. I personally LOATHE high rise buildings, as you seem to isolated from the beach in them, to me. There is actually quite a bit to walk to around Manchebo (now) and the beach there at Manchebo is one of the largest on the island. Great French Steakhouse on the property also.

Restaurants

Find restaurants in Palm and Eagle Beach areas and others

Bobcat--Unless I'm doing something wrong, I couldn't find the French Steak House at Manchebo on that map. So is that some kind of a 'pay' situation for restaurants to be listed there?

Bobcat--I know Manchebo myself, I was just pointing out that the restaurant there didn't appear to be on that other map, unless I missed it..

French Steakhouse is on the map. Sort of a large number of places jammed in close but they are there.

OK, as I said, I must have been doing something wrong, as I didn't see it.

You didn't do anything wrong Carol - they are all jammed very close on the map is all.

I tried to zoom in and every time I did, I lost my place on the map.

I would favor Eagle Beach, the low rise area. Less commercial. In my experience the waves would be the same at either beach.

Try to zoom out and expand it a bit so you can see more locations.
