Suggestion on Provisioning on St Vincent

Suggestion on Provisioning on St Vincent - 11/05/2012 04:18 AM

In the BVI, we were able to download a big spreadsheet from Bobby's and get an idea of costs n stuff. The list from the big market in Kingstown is kinda small. Is it possible to pre-provision (we are not with a mainstream bareboat company), or should we just plan to drive around and get whatever we get?

We do plan to have a Taxi drive us all over the place anyhow, I just thought it would be easier if we could pre-plan it.

Thanks,

Rich

Rich, the lists that were sent to me were charter company headed, except for Gonsales Liquors. You might be able to ask one of the charter companies who they use for provisioning and send the lists directly to them.

Send me your email via PM and I'll forward them to you, if you're interested.

If you're using Kishorn as a driver, he'll take you to the best places. Also, you can order ahead before you get there from the Gourmet Foods and pick it up on your way back to your boat. Depending on what time of year you're going, they might not have a lot of "stock on hand" as we found in June. We should have pre-ordered from them.

If the market in Kingstown is going, it's a great place to get fresh fruit and vegetables, as is the one in Bequia if you're heading there from St. Vincent. It's also a great place to meet the locals and find out how to cook the various vegetables you'll find - they all love to share their recipes if you're interested!

The market down-town IS amazing. It's worth visiting just to see the huge variety of exotic produce.

Cool.. I'll send my email and I'm sure we'll hit the market. Sounds like fun!
