Bimini Bahamas - 12/10/2016 02:53 PM

Thinking about taking a short trip to Bimini have not been there since 1995. Anybody have any comments. Wasn't sure of all the options of getting them from Miami or Fort Lauderdale.

There is a cruise ship from Palm Beach that is quite reasonable and you can combine a land portion to extend to 3-4 nights. I think it is the Bahamas Celebration. Look it up, we are considering it in the spring.

Interesting it looks like it leaves at 6 o'clock at night arrives the next morning you have two full days there and leave in the p.m. on the second day arriving the next morning. Around $400 per person.

It's the same ship that last year sailed to either Freeport or Nassau. 4 of us did it and would do it again in a second, the Bimini destination makes it even more compelling. It' an old Carnival ship with basic cabins however the food was really good but drinks very expensive. Plenty of entertainment and gambling naturally. Please let us know if you go.

There is also a cruise to Bimini that takes 2 hours. Genting Casinos, Resorts International. Look it up. They bought Bimini Bay Club and there is a casino there and a Hilton. I want to go but haven't been able to.
Also air taxi's are available.
Cheers

Spent at least a whole day Saturday doing research. Found out of the sea planes are not very dependable and sometimes cannot get you over there because of mechanical problems. There is a Bimini fast ferry that leaves at 8 AM out of Miami two hours later it's in Bimini. But it doesn't run every day specially for New Year's. Also I'd rather stay in the older hotels like the Seacrest marina only $145 this time of year. They say the best way to get around it is a golf cart for around $70 a day. Also it was mentioned you can walk the whole island north Bimini and 15 minutes. Big johns is a local place to go that is similar to the complete angler. Will post with updates. Also flying to Miami as there's a hotel right inside the airport. Then taking a taxi to the very next day. Oh when the ferry comes back into stock at 8pm arrives at 10 PM

The Bimini Fast Ferry is the Genting boat I was referring. It leaves out of Downtown Miami, Port Miami.
Didn't know you were thinking New Year.
If you are taking the ferry, how are you getting from MIA to Port Miami?
