It is very difficult as this is high season and most places are booked out over a year earlier - try Trivago as they may have availability for your short stay.

Golden Strand is reasonably priced and in the center of town and on the beach.

If you do not have a car there is a bus stop right in front of where you are staying that will take you downtown, or to the Aventura Mall (a huge mall)or north to Hollywood Beach, to the race track / casino - Miami-Dade bus 120,E,S and Broward bus # 28 - the 120 skips that stop but is available at other stops along Collins Ave,- loads of restaurants along Collins Ave heading downtown, heading north is Golden Beach, only residential here until you reach Hollywood Beach.

Good pizza from the shop in the basement of Ramada (Marco Polo) across the street.

I should mention the free shuttle service provided by the city - three lines go to various points in and out of the area - runs on a schedule - may come in handy at times.

Thanks, Bobcat. We are driving from Boston so will have our car. Any suggestions for things to do besides the obvious beach and dinner out. Thanks, Diane

The things to do are endless in the greater Miami area - things to do in Sunny Isles Beach is limited - it is just 2.5 miles long and maybe half mile wide at its widest point.
These should be lots of free information available upon arrival. Enjoy.
