Christmas in Playa del Carmen?

Christmas in Playa del Carmen? - 12/13/2013 02:20 AM

Three generation family in PDC for Christmas. We've been in the Rivera Maya area before as couples in several AI resorts and love the area.

Staying in PDC. This time in beach front condo in the heart of the town.

Will all or many of the resturants be open?
Anybody know about Christmas services or the catholic churches?

The big celebration of Christmas is on Noche Buena, Christmas Eve. Most of the restaurants will be open and busy. Reservations might be required. Be prepared for a celebration quite similar to New Years Eve. Mexican children receive gifts from the three wise kings (reyes magos) on 6 January.

Your closest RC church (Heart of town?) might be Nuestra Senora del Carmen on 15th between 12 north and 12 north bis.
They also hold services in the tiny church in Parque Fundadores near the ferry.
For other options just ask a taxista or check Google for times.

Playa is hopping!
Fifth Ave resembles the same named in NYC. wall to wall people, and full restaurants. Beaches and beach bars, with everybody in good spirits.

Continue to be impressed with the friendly attitude of staff and servers, and high quality of the service in general. Prices aren't the bargain of the past...but what is these days.

Merry Xmas from Mexico.
