Riveria Maya - 03/18/2014 03:05 PM

Our son is getting married in November at El Dorado Seaside Suites just south of Playa Aventuras. Has anyone been there, and what are the must-see's off the resort? Also, any suggestions for dive operators in that area? Husband and sons are all certified, and while we're going to try and do a day trip to Cozumel, want a Plan B just in case. Thanks!

We were there 10 times this winter.
There are many things to do including theme parks, Xplore, Xcaret, Xel-Ha and more. In that area are several golf courses including famous Mayakoba the host of the PGA tour last fall. The town of Playa del Carmen offers shopping, dining and night clubs. We use Planet Scuba Mexico in Puerto Adventuras for ocean and cave diving.
Google is your friend.
Hidden Beach Resort is adjacent to El Dorado Seaside Suites.
Buy one way tickets for the Coz ferry.
Get pesos at a bank ATM.
More specific questions feel free to PM me.

Just got back from there, and agree that it is a beautiful and well-managed resort. Many restaurants on site;a really good Asian theme and a new tapas restaurant, but the portions are huge. Hidden Beach Resort is literally steps away from Seaside. In the area, the Tulum ruins are a 20 minute drive, and Chichenitza is about 90 minutes away along with some cool cenotes. Snorkeling and scuba off Cozumel are world class.

Thinking of visiting El Dorado Seaside Suites to celebrate our anniversary. However, our anniversary is in late August. Wondering about the weather that time of year. Have never been to Mexico so any thoughts would be welcomed.

Certainly nobody can predict the weather months in advance. Sure it will be hot and very humid. Count on some rain too.
Here's a chart for some general info.

we were at HB and rented a taxi to Coba
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coba
which is a huge unexcavated (mostly) large run site. we did not take a tour bus as weather was iffy and there are no refunds in south and central america. we went next door to el dorado and asked about an all day taxi , a great day
