Where in the world?

Posted By: TomB

Where in the world? - 08/28/2017 02:51 AM

It has been awhile since we played this game. I will post the first picture to get things rolling.

If you can identify the shot just submit your answer and the person who posted will confirm if you are right. If you are right you get to post the next shot.

If people are stumped it is all right to post hints to keep the game moving. Here is our first picture.

I am going to let you in on a little secret, I do not know how to post a photo plus I do not have any to post. Would you believe all my travel photos are prints. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> Please do another photo.

Re: Where in the world? - 08/29/2017 12:00 AM

Do you have the ability to scan in a print? If so, you can upload it here. It doesn't have to be online anywhere first.
Posted By: TomB

Re: Where in the world? - 08/29/2017 01:08 AM

If you do not have a scanner.. you can whip out the cell phone and take a picture of the picture. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> If we play by the old rules from a few years ago... you have 24 hours to post one. Give it a try. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

Re: Where in the world? - 08/31/2017 02:57 AM

I am using TTOL to post pictures. When you are posting in the bottom three threads topics (Simple Pictures) you can upload a single photo if the picture is less than 25OK in size and I think 1280 wide. Type in your text and hit continue. When the preview loads look below the text and you will see a upload window. After it uploads, you can grab the file name and use the img command to post into other thread topics. However it is one at a time.

As for download, Carol correct me if I am wrong, if you are logged in the picture is visible to someone looking at the thread. If you are not logged in you see a link in the header and when you click it you see the picture and that counts as a download.

To officially answer the question of the location of your shot.... It would be Monterosso one of the villages of the Cinque Terre.

I will post tomorrow the next picture

Well, maybe you learn something every day, if you're smart. Sometimes, I'm not so smart, like looking at these series of pictures. I have NO clue where any of them are.

Re: Where in the world? - 08/31/2017 09:34 PM

Somewhere in Germany??

Re: Where in the world? - 08/31/2017 10:29 PM

Dunno. I'm directionally challenged. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: Where in the world? - 08/31/2017 10:39 PM

Not Amsterdam and not Germany
So here is another hint.

This place is very important to those who study the history and adventures of Christopher Columbus

Portugal??

Re: Where in the world? - 09/01/2017 01:36 AM

PORTUGAL - NO <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />
SPAIN - YES <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

But where?

Re: Where in the world? - 09/01/2017 11:15 AM

Plaza de Espana, Seville

Re: Where in the world? - 09/01/2017 12:07 PM

Ding, Ding, Ding... We have a winner!

Mr Beerman - Picture Please <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

BTW... Columbus is buried in Seville and it is also where he prepared the three ships (Niña, Pinta and Santa María) and heir crews for the pending voyage to the new world.
1492 is a VERY important year in Spain, but not because of Chris. It is the year that El Cid (and others) drove the Moors from Spain.

Re: Where in the world? - 09/02/2017 02:06 PM

First question... How come James Bond gets all the good looking women? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

Something most folks do not know about TomB, but he is a James Bond nerd. I have every movie on DVD. In fact it is a rainy day cold day (mid-60s in Virginia) and I see a James Bond marathon in my future. Please do not think less of me <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

So to the matter at hand, I will say that is George Lazenby in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service " and that was filmed on the Schilthorn in Switzerland?

Re: Where in the world? - 09/02/2017 04:23 PM

Ding! We watched "On her majesty's..." on the flight over last time!! Go Telly!!!

It's still in the high 50's here Tom, ugh! Just face timed with our daughter in Lugano, same weather there...that puts me in the mood for more euro research today!

Well since this is primarily a Caribbean Board lets do a blue water picture. To get this one right you need to provide Island and Beach in picture.

Re: Where in the world? - 09/02/2017 11:20 PM

Ok it's a big world with lots of water....will I find this in your blog? Perhaps Anguilla? Maybe Malta? Maybe....
Posted By: TomB

Re: Where in the world? - 09/03/2017 03:48 AM

ahhhhhhh.... but the water is a special color blue <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

One could probably find this beach in my blogs or old trip reports, but not in the ones you mentioned Beerman. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

Re: Where in the world? - 09/03/2017 05:08 PM

Tom--It's funny, the one and only time we spent any time overnight on St. John, we had to be evacuated out early because of wrong way Hurricane Lenny!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> I don't know how many trips we have made to the Caribbean during hurricane season, probably at least two dozen and the ONLY time we had a hurricane affect our trip was for Lenny. I think we've always taken that as a sign! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: Where in the world? - 09/03/2017 07:04 PM

Carol,

I would not go to STJ in the next week - you may have repeat experience.

Sure hope not, but looks like Irma is tracking that way.
