After reading that, I guess our Cruise for August 15th is canceled. I wonder how long we'll have to wait for our credit to the credit card.

Not sure on time on the credit, but I can't think you were too surprised? As I understand it, when they finally resume cruises, it will be primarily from Florida and corona is literally EXPLODING here.

I wasn't surprised. We were hoping RCCL would cancel because when we booked last year, it was a non-refundable deposit. The Travel Agent told us if we cancel, we lose the deposit, but if RCCL cancels, we get it back.

OK, glad you will get your money back anyway.

We requested a full refund for our Aug 15th Cruise on RCCL. It's supposed to take 30 working days for the credit to show up on our credit card.

Cathy--I think some of those dates have to be wrong, based on the no sail order being extended to Sept 15? Some of those ships don't sail in the US, but Celebrity and several others definitely do.

I can't verify anything...I just thought i would pass long what i received. None of it means anything of course if other countries do not allow the ships to come into ports....or of quarantines are required etc.

Just surprised that a TA would pass along information that seems obviously wrong?

Since I have a ponant trip to Antarctica in December I hope it is right.

I would say that you are a great deal braver than I am, but I sincerely hope it all works out great for you!

Re: No sail voluntarily extended to Sept 15 - 06/26/2020 02:13 PM

Carol...I won't say that I am brave. I think I fear that the world is forever changed and things will never go back to the old normal... But we might have a new normal. We have 7 trips booked from now until 2022...4 are cruises, 3 are land trips. I do not know if ANY of them will happen. It is what it is and I quite frankly cannot change it because I am not in control....right now a virus is in control. I hope a vaccine becomes available...the sooner the better. However, there are a lot of diseases that have no vaccines. If a vaccine is available...I suspect many countries will require it for entry...and I am ok with that. I have been reading several travel forums and there are a lot of folks who will refuse to get the vaccine. That doesn't even make sense to me. If you want to travel, you have to play by the rules. I did not want to get a yellow fever shot...but I sure wanted to go to Africa. Africa won, I got the shot.

So the bottom line for me is to keep planning and hoping. I will follow the rules and guidelines and I will continue to travel unless it is just not feasible. For example...we have a road trip to New England planned for September. In several states, a two week quarantine is required. We cannot possibly quarantine for two weeks in each state. So we are hoping the quarantines are removed so we can go...but if not...we stay home....and reschedule for next year.

Right now, there's no way I would even consider booking a cruise, until there is a vaccine. And once it is available, I will be one of the first in line in order to get it!!

Re: No sail voluntarily extended to Sept 15 - 06/26/2020 04:36 PM

I would not book a cruise right now either...I have 4 already booked. I will also be one of the first in line for the vaccine...if you want to travel I think you might not have a choice.

..which is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned. I have no problem with getting the vaccine. Just wish it was available now!
