CO beaches in Jamaica update - 12/31/2015 04:28 PM

Just got back from Jamaica. Sunset beach resort has changed management and there is no longer a CO section. Also stayed at Sandals Royal Caribbean. CO beach on the island is smaller due to construction but open. Desk will tell you it is closed but it s not.

Thanks for the note. Guess I need to keep up better. I didn't realize there were c/o beaches at Sandals at all. I didn't think that there used to be c/o beaches there. Do all Sandals have c/o beaches, or only some?

I don't know about any others. First time in Jamaica. Stayed a few nights after our cruise to Cuba. Needed a CO fix so we seeked it out.

We took several cruises that stopped in Montego Bay. There was a hotel within 1 mile from the pier that offered topless, but we were unable to find any CO beaches.

I think the only sandals that have c/o is the one in montego bay with the island

To the best of my knowledge, Sandal Royal Caribbean is the only Sandals offering C/O. The private island leaves a bit to be desired from a C/O perspective. It is a small area and not very private. There is a big difference between that island and Couples Tower Isle...

OK, thanks for the info. Personally, I was not particularly impressed with Couples Tower Isle. If it's WORSE than that, not sure how I personally would be interested at all. Tower Isle was very small, accessible only by boat <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> it's an island, <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> and often not accessible at all because of waves. And the food choices weren't great, no access to the ocean from there and only a small plunge pool. How would you describe Sandals Royal Caribbean island?

Carol,

FWIW, I am not a big fan of Couples Tower Isle either. If I want that deco (post renovation), I'll go to Miami...

The island at SRC is also accessed via boat. Once you disembark, there is a pool and bar to the right. The CO section is off to the left. It is rather small, you might be able to squeeze about 18 chairs or so in there.

There is a seawall but you can access the ocean. When we were there only me an another couple chose to disrobe. The wife was uncomfortable as there is semi-constant (every 30 min or so) traffic touring the island and they walk right through the CO section. The area is so small that people are very close to your chair when they walk through.

We decided SRC was not for us and have not and probably will not return.

OK, doesn't sound appetizing to me either. What is the purpose of the traffic? They are touring to see the nudies??

Unsure but I will hazard a guess.

The island is not mandatory nude like Tower Isle. Textile guests use the pool and bar. Many of these guests are simply taking a tour of the entire island once they arrive. I am sure there were some voyeurs because very few chose to remain in the area.

It is similar to the environment at the old Grand Lido Negril with curious textile guests but due to the small CO area, their presence is more intrusive.

Just my $.02...

Now see, I really enjoyed the c/o area at GL Negril, and there actually were some legitimate reasons for textiles to go there, including the snorkling and those lamb chops!!! Back when the Grand Yuppie WAS really Grand, it was such a great place! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />
