Maryland Health Society & Pine Tree

Anybody have some insight/experience with these two AANR clubs near Washinton, DC?

My wife and I have been to both.

Maryland Health Society is very rustic. Has a nice pool.

Pine Tree is much more built up, nice pool & tenis. When we were there quite a few years ago they did not allow you to have alcohol in the common area or pool area. People seemed pleasant at both and you can do a free orientation.

The MAHESO folks make an annual winter weekend visit up to Avalon Resort in eastern WV and have always been a bunch of great people.

Pine Tree has nicer facilities and a lot of outdoor sports activities but has been reported to be somewhat cliqueish and also to have a small but vocal group of "all nude all the time" self-appointed enforcers.

We live half an hour south of both facilities, but choose to be members at Avalon despite the 2.5 hour drive. We liked it so much that we own a condo there.

Bill--It was quite a while ago, but we experienced the 'all nude all the time' folks at Pine Tree and decided it wasn't for us either..

I visited the Pine Tree website and looks very nice. Too bad for us it is on the opposite side of the country or we would maybe give it a try. I read their policies about nudity and they don't seem too rigid. After all, guests choose to go visit a nudist resort and assumingly they are there to enjoy the ability to shed your clothes and be with like minded people 24/7. At least that is how we look at it. We certainly would not be comfortable being nude at a nudist venue while others remained clothed. Maybe that is just us. Each to his or her own I guess.

There are different philosophies. Mine is that I enjoy the freedom to wear no clothes or I can wear clothing if I want. Those that DEMAND nudity 24/7/365 are more hung up about clothes than those who don't allow nudity, to my mind. To me, if I wear clothes or not is not a big deal and I could care less whether you do either. Wear what is comfortable for you. But others have differing views.

Don't know where you are in the DC area, but you may want to check out all three locations. Avalon Resort is less than 90 minutes from Fairfax and is run as a resort rather than as a "club" so you can visit it as often as you want without being required to purchase a membership after your third visit, unlike most other nudist venues.

The benefit of chosing to become a member is a large reduction in lodging fees for each visit and no "day fees" since you pay annual dues instead.

Maryland Health Society is finally under a New President. She is creating a lot of new and much needed changes to the club. One of the changes is there is no longer a 3 visit rule, then you mush join. All AANR members are allowed unlimited visits at reduced rates. However, any NON-AANR members are still only allowed 3 visits.

We are always appreciative of the information shared here. We plan a return trip to the DC area and it's nice to hear of some options for a nude stay.

We prefer the "nude" venues to clothing optional so ... it's nice to have a choice.
