TackingAG, looking forward to your survey. We are in the process of purchasing a house in the BVI and are now working through the logistics of bringing a boat down.

Will do, ski2play. I'm also in the process of looking for people who are purchasing a house in the BVI and working through the logistics of bringing their boat down.

We use Offshore Marine located in Road Town, C.A. and Ft Lauderdale. Our insurance rate is 2% of hull value, $2200 deductible which doubles in a named storm. S.O.P.

Be VERY careful with liability insurance in the BVI. Most policies DO NOT cover litigation in the USA, they only cover litigation in the BVI. BIG problem. You have NO insurance if a litigant decides to sue you in the USA. I have had a bad experience with one of the BVI insurers. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif" alt="" />

There are many many companies that insure vessels in the Caribbean, USVI and BVI's, even during hurricane season. Your best bet is to search the archives at cruisersforum.com for the latest info.
Just remember that once you ask the insurance question you will likely get hundreds of opinions
