Leverick Bay - The Fat Virgin

Leverick Bay - The Fat Virgin - 02/19/2015 02:54 PM

We are preparing itinerary for our upcoming trip. I noticed someone stated they were overnighting at Leverick Bay and was going to have dinner at the The Fat Virgin. Is the Fat Virgin close enough to Leverick Bay to use our dingy to go for dinner?

We're Fat Virgin Cafe fans. The Biras Creek ferry from Gun Creek pops by frequently. I know my lover would think its a dinghy ride too far. It is no problem for us from the Prickly Pear anchorage.

We've done it once and the operative word is once. It was a bit windy and by the time we got back to the boat, we were soaked; but dinner was great. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

Back to the question of is it doable. Yes it is doable, however, you will be wet when you get there and wet when you get back. If you do not mind eating dinner soaking in salt water it is doable. You could take a taxi from Leverick to Gun Creek and take the water Taxi to Fat Virgins. That would is an enjoyable ride. From there you could have a nightcap at Saba or BEYC and take the water taxi back to Gun Creek.

Check with Nick, I know there was a water taxi between Leverick and BEYC a few years ago. Do not know if it is still going.

There is still a Saba Rock Ferry that goes between Leverick and Saba - not sure about BEYC. As Rita says, Nick would know.

The trip is certainly doable and depends on the dinghy. If you can plane within a loaded dinghy you have a quick dry ride. If not I would think about other ways To get there. I have been a long time fan of Ester and the Fat Virgin, It should be on your list. Think about taking a mooring in the Biras mooring field, then it is a short ride and you have good wifi on the boat.

Is there a walking trail from Bitter End to Fat Virgin?

If you go to Saba Rock for a nite cap after Fat Virgin, they will pick you up at Fat Virgin, take you to Saba and then return you to Leverick. All for the price of a generous tip.

Free ferry Leverick Bay-Saba. No ferry from Leverick Bay-Fat Virgin.
Free ferry Gun Creek-Fat Virgin, every hour on the half hour
Hope that helps

Have you considered overnighting at Biras instead of Leverick, for the night you want to eat at Fat Virgin?
